Runic Inscriber

Amongst the northern folk runes serve an important function in day-to-day life. One such function is to augment their bodies in supernatural ways. This is accomplished with the help of a runic inscriber.

The Runic Inscriber

The Runic Inscriber is a small needle-like pen that has been engraved with ruark runes that allow it to channel the amorphous energies of magic into itself and pass those energies into the runes it inscribes on human flesh in a manner similar to dwarven runecarving. The needle itself is a fine point capable of piercing human flesh with very little pressure and the hilt of the tool is often carved out of ash wood and carved delicately with engravings.

Runes

Several different runes have been inscribed into the flesh of northerners using the runic inscriber. Some of the most common are:   Rune of Battle - A rune that bestows its bearer with ferocity in battle like that of a wild animal.   Rune of Strength - A rune that gifts its bearer with incredible strength.   Rune of Winter's Chill - A rune that bestows immunity to the chill of winter to its bearer.   Rune of Vigor - A rune that fills its bearer with incredible stamina and endurance. Prized both on the battle field and in more domestic situations.   Ygnir's Rune - One of the rarest runes ever inscribed, Ygnir's Rune has only been bestowed on a few individuals. Its bearers are able to channel the energies imbued in the rune to cast minor magical effects. While these effects pale in comparison to true magic, they are undeniably safer to use. It is so named for the Ruark Scribe that discovered the methods of inscribing the rune.
