When the universe was null, a quarrel broke out in the divine realm. As a result, the Hammer of Creation was shattered, and the universe burst forth imbuing the entirety of creation with magic. The shards of The Hammer formed planets, and on those planets the magic manifested itself into semi-sentient beings called Talor. The Creator, Vis, decided to step in and guide the formation and history of one planet called Talum.   Vis' first act of guidance was shaping the Talor into intelligent beings he called the Var; however, many Talor remained unchanged. The Talor possessed unrivaled magical powers and were soon used by the Var to wage war with one another which became known as the Mystic Wars. The Mystic Wars were fueled by the extraordinary magical ability of the Talor which nearly destroyed all of Talum. Because the Talor are beings of pure magic a small group of these ancient people performed a ritual that stripped all the beings on Talum of their magic in a last-ditch effort to save their world.   While the ritual did work, it also caused the Var to develop technologies and weapons to compensate for their newfound lack of magic. Eventually the Chosen Races of Talum descended from the Var, and magic seeped into them from the interior of Talum. Factions were created, order was established, and life was stable for some time. Relative peace covered Talum, until a power-hungry sorcerer discovered how to perform the ancient ritual that was used to end the Mystic Wars and planned to use it to conquer all of Talum.   A small resistance force formed to stop the sorcerer and interfered with the ritual. Unfortunately, the ritual was not completely stopped. The wizard which led the resistance was able to deflect the ritual back at the sorcerer, but it also struck Talum herself destabilizing the land around them and nullifying Talum's magic. Talum found for the second time in her history that she no longer possessed magic.   With their land destroyed, the sorcerer unaccounted for, and the future of Talum in jeopardy, the people's last hope lies in the legends of the past. The Legend of Genesis Ridge tells of a place on Talum covered with large raw shards of The Hammer of Creation which many believe can restore Talum's magic. Whether or not the legends were true was irrelevant to the people; it was all they had. Now refugees, the people march on a pilgrimage led by the wizard in a quest to save Talum's magic and her people.
