(Campaign2) Zombie Apocalypse
The second campaign in Farrah. Set in 488 A, played by The Advengerers (PC Group) & the Engel family (PC Group).
The Advengerers began in Teutoberg, in the independent nation of Levinas. They are searching for employment. The head of the local Wells Fargo branch, Leonard Koppel, requested a meeting. Koppel informed the Advengerers that his wife and daughter had been kidnapped, and requested the Advengerers deliver the ransom. The Advengerers go to the house where the family is held and negotiate with the kidnappers. The kidnappers were town guards of Teutoberg. The town was in financial peril and Koppel refused to loan money to keep the government afloat, the kidnappers lost their jobs and resorted to crime to make a living.
The Advengerers attempt to negotiate before storming the house and killing the kidnappers. When they return to the local Wells Fargo they find a military unit from Farrah, lead by Captain Cyrus Hayden. Captain Hayden informs the Advengerers that Farrah has invaded and is in the process of annexing Levinas. The Advengerers quickly pledge allegiance to the superior military forces of Farrah. Captain Hayden informs them that the capital of Levinas, Kristallnacht, was put under quarantine by the leader of Levinas, Samudai Hellstrom. Captain Hayden offers to employ the Advengerers to explore the city and determine what is happening within the walls, with such a dangerous mission serving as proof of their loyalty to Farrah.
The invasion is being headed by Paladin Maximillian Lafayette. Lafayette wants to discover some evil or occult actions within Kristallnacht to provide after the fact justification for this war of conquest. The PCs are also tasked to find Samudai Hellstrom if he is still within the city.
The Advengerers travel to Kirstallnacht. On the way they are stopped by a human in rags. He says that his name is Silvos and that he was sent to give them gifts. He presents each of the Advengerers with a gift: an immovable rod (given to MD), a ring of modify memory, a small clay dragon that eats bugs (BD), a quill that writes what is dictated to it (RC), a mirror that shows one minute into the past (JH), a ring that can open and close doors (Nick), a music box (LA), Quall's feather token tree (TS).
The Advengerers reach the Kristallnacht, climb the walls and enter the city. Life in the city is very difficult. The population are sick and starving. The Advengerers purchase a small child, Santiago, for a loaf of bread. The Advengerers soon learn that the guards are regularly breaking into homes and taking people to underground prisons and dungeons. No one is allowed to leave and no one knows why.
The Advengerers take shelter at a tavern. In the night they hear what sound like riots and battles on the streets. They watch through the windows as streams of people break down doors and savage other citizens, seemingly out of their minds. Once bitten, the citizens then join the attackers. The PCs watch the zombie outbreak of Kristallnacht.
The Advengerers travel through the city on rooftops, observing desperate and futile last stands and barricades by the few surviving citizens. They come across two buildings still secure from the zombie attack, Oppenheimer's laboratory, and Nathuram Godse's shop. Oppenheimer has electrified the fences around his lab to ward off the zombies. He asks the Advengerers if they can find some way to safely evacuate survivors or find out where the guards were taking prisoners, which the Advengerers say they will look for. While staying at Oppenheimer's house the Advengerers notice that a nearby church is under attack from zombies. Max's Advengerer climbs along the lightning cable that Oppenheimer has run from his roof to the Church steeple. He gathers the 4 survivors (two sailors and two female clerics) and takes them to the steeple. As the zombies break into the ground floor of the church Max's Advengerer ties the survivors into counterbalancing slings which he attaches to his legs. His plan is to use his immovable rod to repeatedly slow down the flying fox's otherwise steep descent along the lighting cable to the safety of Oppenheimer's house. As the 5 set off the knots holding the sailors on immediately give way, plunging the sailors to their deaths. The ropes securing Max's advengerer to the priests comes loose and they zoom down the cable without breaks and crash into the walls of Oppenheimer's home, dying instantly. Max's Advengerer is left hanging onto his immovable rod in mid-air. He uses it to slowly descend to a nearby gargoyle, climb back up the steeple and carefully back to Oppenheimer's.
Nathuram informs the Advengerers that he has a cure to the zombie plague. He will give it to them if they will retrieve a single gemstone from the Mueseum of Kristallnacht (the Crystal of Power). The PCs travel across the zombie infested city. They happen upon another traveller, Amelia Lightspring, who they save from a zombie attack. Lightspring thanks the PCs and asks what their purpose in Kristallnacht is. When they reveal they work for the Army of Farrah Lightspring decides not to travel with them.
The Advengerers first search the prisons where they find that Hellstrom had been arresting those infected in an attempt to contain the plague. He kept the problem secret and ordered experimentation on the subjects to search for a cure. His efforts also yielded a gel that could transfer the zombie plague. The Advengerers decide to take a sample of the zombie gel with them. As they go to leave the experimentation dungeon they are confronted by the Alpha Team of Kristallnacht. The Alpha Team was dedicated to preventing the spread of the plague, and to ensure that Farrah did not get any of the weaponized gel. The Alpha Team began to flood the facility and fight the Advengerers to keep them from leaving with a sample. The Advengerers were able to kill the Alpha Team and escape without drowning, but in the process lost the samples of zombie gel they had.
During this time the Engel family barricade their home and try to withstand the zombie onslaught. When the zombies break through the Engels flee through the city, they go to the airship station and convince the Captain there to take off against the prior orders of Samudai Hellstrom. The blimp takes off under heavy zombie attack, with a number of bitten individuals (including some of the Engels) on board. The Army of Farrah shoots down the blimp, causing it to crash within the walls. Amelia Lightspring enters the flaming wreckage and pulls a single survivor out, Ralf Engel (TS). Lightspring then flees Kristallnacht.
Meanwhile, the Advengerers find and enter the Museum. Throughout their journey through they are hunted by a huge, undead, minotaur. One of the Advengerers spots a strange sword on display (the Vetala Sword), he takes it and uses it to slay the Minotaur. The Advengerers then enter the room with the Crystal of Power. The Vetala, trapped within the sword, was then close enough to the Crystal of Power to use its energy to escape its prison. Weakened, and unable to fight a force bearing both the Sword of the Vetala and the Crystal of Power, the Vetala fled the city.
The Advengerers, uncertain of what they had just freed, returned the Crystal of Power to Nathuram. Nathuram provided two samples of the cure, one of which was immediately used on an Advengerer who had been bitten by a zombie.
The Advengerers left the city and returned to Captain Hayden and Lafayette. They reported the reason for the quarantine and presented the cure. They were put on a military boat which was to sail back to Mitraz in Farrah.
