Ryder & Allora Discover Steelborne

After leaving the goblin outpost, Ryder and Allora continue East along the road, with a view to stopping to resupply in the village ahead. As they draw closer, however, Allora tells Ryder to stop, sensing a familiar unease.

{Allora} stops short as she glances up at the buildings ahead, and tugs back on his hand. "Ryder... Wait."
"What is it?" {Ryder} asks, bemused that he's been out-rangered by a Bard.
Allora nods at the nearest building. While Ryder may not have noticed it before, when he takes a closer look, he notices that the further half of it has crumbled inward. As he focuses on the next building, and the next, he notices that they all bear similar scars, as if a storm had torn them down.
"They've come through here." Allora keeps a tight grip on Ryder's hand, standing frozen at the entrance to the village.

The pair search the buildings for survivors, but find only the bodies of the villagers, mostly injured or killed by the debris of their own destroyed homes. They also come upon a Specter, and while they try to quickly find some evidence of a way to put its soul at peace, it attacks them on sight, leaving them no choice but to defend themselves.
They gather the bodies and burn them on a pyre, before deciding to change course, and follow the trail from Steelborne to its source, with a view to seek vengeance.

The Search Party Discover Steelborne

Miz’na unshoulders her pack near the point where road-meets-ruin, trying to take in the carnage and not see Fate’s Haven in it. She’s been alarmingly silent the whole hike, and this doesn’t inspire much pep from the troubled woman. “There’s nothing here, is there?”

The search party arrive at Steelborne a few days later, and try to piece together the evidence before them to find out what happened. They discover the still-smouldering remains of the pyre, and a series of varied tracks coming into Steelborne from the East - as well as a set of two humanoid tracks leaving the village, heading the opposite way.

{Grizz} shakes his head. "I'm not sure this makes sense. The pair of 'em arrive to the scene, see the carnage and make a pyre, but don't go after whoever did it?"
Looking to Mathos, he asks, "Are they the type to let it alone?"
{Finn} "Maybe they're not trying to get killed? I dunno." she shrugs. "I sure wouldn't, unless I had a plan."
{Mathos} “I agree… whoever built the pyre didn’t want to get killed by going after these attackers.. they must have had other plans”

The party then follow Ryder and Allora's tracks East.
