Holidays

Moriones Fesival
: The Moriones Festival in the island province of Marinduque commemorates the story of the Roman centurion, Longinus & his legendary conversion at the foot of the cross. The Moriones Festival is a synthesis of Catholicism & folk mysticism. The townsfolk of Boac, Gasan & Mogpog are dressed in masks & helmets, depicting Roman soldiers. The rest of the locals portray St. Longinus & hide among the houses while the others search for him. Unlike most of the country, Marinduque observes Holy Week in a much more joyous manner.
Feast Day: His feast day is kept on October 16th in the Roman Martyrology, which mentions him, without any indication of martyrdom, in the following terms: "At Jerusalem, commemoration of Saint Longinus, who is venerated as the soldier opening the side of the crucified Lord with a lance".

Personal history

Lucius was assaulted by bandits when he was still very young. Lucius stood up alone & fought the bandits with his knife & landed a heavy hit on one of the bandits, which crippled him, making him unable to walk & had to resort to begging. This pained Lucius' heart when he encountered the same bandit again years later on the streets one day. Later the ex-bandit fell ill & through nursing & care from Saint Peter, he later recovered, discarded his faith on the Roman gods, & fully embraced a certain religion, unexpectedly become a believer to that religion before Lucius as well. Lucius would then walk his path to become one of the Roman soldiers, defeated hundreds of enemies in war, & furthermore promoted to lead as a Centurio, which led him to take away thousands of barbarians' lives throughout his life. Even so, he never forgot the fear & the feeling of stabbing the bandit on that day. Later Lucius plays an important role in the Crucifixion, having been the one who stabbed Jesus while he was on the cross. Blood & water gushing out onto Lucius' eyes, giving him a vision & curing his progressive blindness. From that day forward Lucius was a devout Christian.
