Dragonfall Festival

The Dragonfall Festival is a time of great joy and revelry in Pottersteel, as the people celebrate the defeat of the evil Dragon Nethrass. The festival is marked by brightly colored lanterns and candles that fill the streets and homes of the city. There are parades of people carrying lanterns through the streets, and music and dancing can be heard everywhere. The nighttime festivities are started by a huge display of magical fireworks.   During the festival, all social barriers are broken down, and the people of Pottersteel indulge in wild revelry. Nobles and commoners alike are seen in states of undress from the waist up, and one of the tenets of the holiday is that anyone can kiss anyone else. For two days, classes and social hierarchies are demolished, and everyone is free to enjoy the festivities.   The reason for this tradition is that it is believed that during the Dragonfall Festival, the boundaries between the material world and the spirit world are weakened, and the spirits of the dead can return to the world of the living. It is believed that by breaking down social barriers and indulging in wild revelry, the living can appease the spirits of the dead and prevent them from causing harm to the living.

History

The Dragonfall Festival has a long and storied history that dates back to the time of Nethrass the Void Dragon's defeat. It is said that the first festival was held just one year after the battle, as a way for the people of Pottersteel to celebrate their victory and honor those who fought and died in the conflict.   Over the years, the festival evolved and changed, influenced by various factors such as changes in leadership, social values, and outside events. In its early years, the festival was a solemn affair, with mourning and remembrance of those lost in the battle taking center stage. However, as time passed and the wounds of the battle began to heal, the festival took on a more joyous tone, becoming a time of celebration and revelry.   One major factor that affected the festival's evolution was the arrival of new people and cultures to Pottersteel. As the city grew and expanded, people from all over the world came to settle there, bringing with them their own traditions and customs. These new arrivals helped to shape the festival, adding new elements such as music, dance, and food, which are now central to the event.   Despite these changes, however, the festival has never lost sight of its original purpose, which is to honor the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought and died in the battle against Nethrass. The lanterns and candles that fill the streets of Pottersteel during the festival serve as a reminder of the lives lost in the conflict, and the music and revelry are a celebration of the victory that allowed the city to flourish.

Execution

A day of celebration during the Dragonfall Festival in Pottersteel would be a lively and colorful event. The festivities would begin early in the morning with a parade through the streets, led by a group of musicians playing flutes, drums, and other instruments. The parade would include a variety of floats and dancers, with people dressed in bright, colorful costumes.   As the day goes on, people would gather in the town square, where vendors would sell food, drinks, and trinkets. There would be games and activities for children, such as face painting, balloon twisting, and storytelling. For the adults, there would be drinking contests, archery competitions, and other games of skill.   As the sun starts to set, lanterns and candles would be lit, filling the town with a soft, warm glow. The music would grow louder and more frenzied, and people would begin to dance and sing. The streets would be alive with energy, as people laugh, hug, and enjoy the company of friends and strangers alike.   As the night wears on, couples would sneak away to secluded spots for kisses, and some may even find themselves in more compromising positions. It's a time of revelry and letting go of inhibitions. The festival would culminate in a fireworks display, illuminating the night sky with bright bursts of color and light, and the people of Pottersteel would cheer and shout in delight.
