The Deep includes the waters that surround Fearann ùr, though further ashore than most. Whilst the shallows, and stretches of water between islands (Nishima, Snorjoro, etc.) and the mainland, are safe for boats and travel — the Deep is a different story.
The Deep has yet to be explored, yet stories float around every region within Fearann ùr. Beasts the size of countries, tidal waves that peak taller than mountains. Any and all fears are realised within the confines of the Deep, yet nobody is sure of the truth.
In reality, all of it is true. There are creatures that roam the Deep who have sizes that are hard to fathom. There are storms that can tear through an armada of ships in mere seconds. Though most importantly, 'The Beast That Beckons' roams.
There exists a rumour, a whisper perhaps, of a cluster of paradise islands nestled within the Deep. A clan of humans that live in solitude within the ocean, their climate and islands perfect for what some consider a fulfilling life.
Another legend that finds its way across Fearann ùr is that of the Isle of Desires. Men, women, riches, anything your heart desires is said to reside within the isle.
The stories often flutter around the Viper's Coast, perhaps for a way to weed out the more gullible — or perhaps the more adventurous — sailors and lure them to an untimely demise within the Deep.
But maybe there is an isle out there, and maybe avoiding The Beast That Beckons, and other creatures of the Deep, both there and back, could lead you to a very fulfilled life...
These rumours find their way circulating throughout the mainland of Fearann ùr and have piqued the interest of scholars and explorers. The stories have been recorded as far back as the 1st Era, yet the existence of the islands are still somewhat a mystery.
Do they exist? The answer is known by only a few...
