Religion In Fearann Ùr

Sometime before recorded history, known as the Pre-Era or 0E, Titans roamed Fearann Ùr. Recorded history cannot place the exact date of the beginning of the First Era, but the Titan War was said to be the event that lead to it. The great Titans fought, and died across the land. Many became fossilised or crystallised beneath the earth. At least that's the story that people believe and are told. In truth, it's somewhat unknown what caused the Titan's to wither away.   The Titans are not gone, however. The still bleed influence into their subjects and their defining traits are amplified in the people that live in their regions and under their influence. It's said that the Titans still watch over their subjects, and those who follow their teachings and beliefs are said to be granted powers from their respective Titan.   Many people across Fearann Ùr believe in their respective region's Titan, yet it is not unheard of for someone to convert to another Titan or not to believe in them at all. Though the Titan's existence are not certain, many believe for them to exist and many cultures are built around them.

The Titans

Titan's Influence
The Titan's of Fearann Ùr are not powerless in their absence. They bleed Influence into their regions from their fossilised, crystallised and dream-like forms. Living within a Titan's confines will see a person gaining personality traits birthed from the Titan's themselves.   A Titan's influence is not set in stone, however. Influence forms and molds its way into each person, but affects them differently. Two people afflicted by the same Influence may react to it in varying ways. The differing reactions to a Titan's Influence causes infighting, varying religions and sometimes even conflict.

Titan's Favour
Along with a Titan's Influence, comes Titan's Favour. Someone who follows the gift of influence they've been given, or appease their Titan in another way, receive the favour of their Titan. The favour varies, and can formulate in various ways and forms, but some suggest that it often comes in your darkest hour.

Terrelione

Terrelionne is the manticore Titan of Vertiste. Terrelionne is fossilised under Bastion D'espoir (Nneur Royal Palace). It's major personality trait is honour, injecting all of its subjects with a sense of pride and honour towards some meaningful endeavour - whether it be their family, their country, or something else. Terrelionne is directly responsible for the Miaouné race, creating the feline-like people in his image.   This hulking beast once roamed the land, with legends saying that its roar could be heard across the entirety of the continent. Terrelionne also had an affinity for magic from the School of Earth, and could allegedly cast earth spells from its large horns.   The Stone Seers of Terrelionne are the major religion behind Terrelionne.   Influence
Those born under Terrelionne's Influence have a general affinity towards honour. This can include a feeling of honour towards their country, their family, or any cause in particular. Those with Terrelionne influence may also feel an overwhelming sense of pride and may often be a little over confident in their own abilities or tend to brag.

Favour
Terrelionne's favour is resilience. When in a dire situation, those who have received the favour of this Titan may receive a boost of resilience that can help them survive a fatal strike. This resilience can be anywhere from keeping the subject at near death, all the way to reflecting the attack completely.

Felophidian

Felophidian is one of the corrupted Titans. Something that is not often seen in the history of Fearann ùr. Felophidian fell to corruption shortly before the Titans crystallised and fossilised themselves. Due to this, its old influence and favour has been altered to be more sinister. Felophidian also cursed the Viper — an old pirate captain — into eternal servitude, hence the name of the region.   The Giant Serpent used to reside in the swamplands of the Viper's Coast. Legends state that it could constrict anything with its body, even with the possibility of destroying mountains. Felophidian was also responsible for the creation of the Saurokin race, allowing the reptiles to take on its image.   Influence
Those under the influence of Felophidian are poisoned in their mind. The Viper's Coast inhabitants often are very selfish and only look out for themselves. Another major part of Felophidian's influence comes in the form of being sly and deceptive.

Favour
Those who please Felophidian and earn his favour will find themselves naturally more dexterious than those who aren't. The dexterity can come in multiple forms, whether it be handling weapons or working as a deckhand. The dexterous prowess offered by the Titan also lures some people into attempting games of chance, and cheating their way to victory.

Nvdatlanuwa

Nvdatlanuwa is another of the Titans that survived the crystallisation / fossilisation of the creatures. Instead, the great bird forced itself into a slumber during the great event. It still loaned its energy to the other Titans, but kept a small amount of energy to keep itself alive. This was necessary, however.   Nvdatlanuwa is the Titan of balance, and Reizi Plains is an entire region built upon balance. The people who reside within the Reizi Plains must continue to maintain balance or Nvdatlanuwa will awaken and wreak havoc across the continent. Due to this, the Reizi Tribes often hold Hunts of Balance to appease the Titan.   Nvdatlanuwa also created the Tissqua-Asgaya race in its image, an Avian Race that share some avian-like qualities such as feathers and talons.   Influence
People under the influence of this Titan find themselves with an increased amount of patience. Hunt use this patience to track and find their mark whilst Seers use this power to aid with their magic.

The Reizi Tribes are one of the most religious regions within the continent and many see Nvdatlanuwa's blessing as a huge gift, centring their societies around it. As with balance, negative effects can arise. Some people born under this Titan's influence have a hard time dealing with morality. There is always balance to them, and everything is black and white. Actions are either good, or bad, and they do not understand the nuance within that morality.   Favour
Those who receive Nvdatlanuwa's favour gain hyper focus. This can often come in a variety of forms. Some may be able to hold their breath for longer to line up the perfect shot. Other's man be able to spot people over long distances. Other's may find their mind clear and meditation to be simple. As Nvdatlanuwa, its favour is all about finding balance within yourself.

Kyūjōshōkame

Once known as the guardian of the skies legend stated that Kyūjōshōkame once soared high above the continent. According to these stories, in an attempt to stop itself being corrupted, it drove itself into the ocean a short distance away from the mainland, forming modern-day Nishima. Kyūjōshōkame was one of the first Titans to fall, dying long before any of the others became crystallised or fossilised. In turn — many do not believe that the island of Nishima sits upon the back of the long dead Titan.   Before its death, the Titan created the Sherudansei race, that resemble tortoise or turtles. They have large shells upon their back and are generally slower than the other races. This has also lead to a lower rate of reproduction, thus keeping their numbers rare.   In truth, not much is known about Kyūjōshōkame though its existence is proven with the Sherudansei.   Influence
Those under the influence of this Titan find themselves with a strong sense of loyalty, lineage and companionship.

The negative trait of those born in Nishima often ends with obsession. Whether it's for loyalty of companionship, some may be afflicted with such an overwhelming sense of obsession that their life becomes unfulfilled if they are not actively pursuing their obsession.   Favour
Those that receive the favour of this Titan are granted a seemingly supernatural power known as flow. Flow is a state of mind that your body enters that allows you act with assurance. Strikes against an enemy will land and always follow-through. Some reports have even stated that people have dodged spells and arrows whilst under the effects of Flow. Similar to Terrelionne's resilience, Kyūjōshōkame's Flow seems to ignite during times of duress.

Alramlfil

Alramlfil was the first of the Titans to fall to corruption, and thus saw the most drastic change. Once looking strikingly similar to an elephant, before its fossilisation it became a disgusting, wrought creature covered in tentacles and sores. Its skin became flayed in places and it oozed dark substances from its wounds. Its said that Alramlfil's body has long been lost to the sands of Oltistan, but its influence still rules strong over it.   Due to Alramlfil's early corruption it never had the chance to create a race in its likeness like the other Titans. Instead, its memory is merely tainted by what it had become, rather than the once great Titan it was.   Influence
Alramlfil's influence is still rather positive for the majority of its subjects, yet some do receive a horrible negative effect alongside it. Some subjects within Oltistan receive an unending amount of greed. Some of the leading Barons throughout Oltistan have an insatiable need for gold, with that greed ever pushing them forward to continue making money.

For the rest of the subjects, however, they find themselves more charismatic than the other regions. A lot of Oltistanis are far more friendly to each other, and often find that they can build relationships much easier.   Favour
Alramlfil's favour to its subjects is fortune and luck. Those that have received the favour have a string of good luck or a large fortune landing in their lap rather quickly. Of course, what causes this favour to activate is not set in stone, so gamblers who often rely on it tend to find themselves disappointed.

Sapientiavectem

Sapientiavectem is both one of the most mystery Titans and one of the most studied. Alleged to have formed the Athame Mountain range with its own skeleton, the Titan supplies the entire region with its influence. Rumoured to be one of the wisest and most intelligent of the Titans, some legends suggest that the Titan even spoke directly to some of its subjects through telepathy.   It's unique Draconic look, along with its pearly white skin makes this Titan one of the most stand out of the lot, and has caused it to have the most interest.   Other theories suggest that the Titan has crystallised directly under the Athame University, which is why the location is a hub for magic.   Sapientiavectem created a race partially in its own image. Known as the Dracopuer, the Titan created its children in the form of both dragon and humans. Whilst the face and torso of a Dracopuer often look human, their hair often contains horns, and the back of their head, body and entire limbs are often covered in Dragon Scales — though these nuances change from person to person.

Influence
The Titan's influence often gives its subjects an increased level of wisdom or intelligence, and sometimes both. Athame subjects are naturally more adept with magic due to this increased intelligence and most subjects often find themselves following a field for study and constantly striving to learn more.   Another slight nuance to this Titan's influence is that of the use of Cascade Crystals. Though all crystals can be used by all people from all regions, along as they have an affinity with magic, Cascade Crystals are strongest in the hands of Athame subjects.   Like all Titans, those born in Athame can be afflicted with a negative boon. Sometimes the pursuit of knowledge and overwhelming wisdom can lead people to lunacy and madness.   Favour
Those who receive the favour of Sapientiavectem are often filled with magical energy until they feel like they could burst. Similar to Terrelionne, Sapientiavectem's favour activates under signs of distress, instilling the subject with magic energy that they no longer need to draw from crystals until the effects wear off. This favour has potential to cause minor victories all the way up the large scale catastrophic events, depending on who is wielding it.

Gobhachreag

Once known as the Earth Carver, this Titan is a mere remnant of what the Scorched Lands once was. It's alleged fossilisation left it to form one of the largest Mountains in the entire continent, centred right within the middle of the Scorched Lands.   Legends suggest that Gobhachreag carved the earth himself, creating the entire continent as it is in the modern day. It's one of the oldest known Titans and has long been the subject of many expeditions and papers published by the Athame University.   Like many of the other Titans, Gobhachreag had created its own race in its image. It created the Chlachfhir. A race of golem-like people who are said to be carved completely out of rock. The Chlachfhir race are relatively rare, but are said to live for an extremely long amount of time.   Influence
Gobhachreag's influence over its subjects is a little different to the other Titans as it provides them with increased strength.

Due to this, the kingdom that once stood where the Scorched Lands now do were known for their military prowess and unrivalled skill in battle. On top of this, the Titan's influence also increases its subjects endurance, ensuring that they can battle and fight for a longer period of time.   Some unlucky subjects of Gobhachreag also gain a negative influence, Domination. They will stop at nothing to achieve the power they so ever crave and it often ends in a swift demise. Or at least did, as little is known of what came before the Scorched Lands. The implication seems to come from the idea that the Stone Carver created the continent, and thus it belongs to its subjects.   Favour
Gobhachreag's favour also differs wildly from the other Titans. As the Earth Carver, the Titan gifts its subjects with intense feelings of inspiration and motivation. This gift lead the kingdom that stood before the Scorched Lands to often be more technologically advanced than the remaining continent. Even now, the Scorched Lands contains relics that other regions are hundreds of years away from discovering.

Vargändsnö

Vargändsnö is another anomaly when it comes to the Titans. According to Snorjoro legend, Vargändsnö sleeps deep beneath the land and once it awakens the end times will be upon the entire continent. Whether this story is mere legend or an actual prophecy is still up for debate across the entirety of the continent. Due to Vargändsnö's slumber, however, a large portion of the Snorjoro island remains uninhabited due to the fear that they will disturb the Titan.   The Wolf-like Titan, similarly to Alramlfil, has not created a race within its own image, though the Reizi Plains' Plain Wulfs are theorised to have been created by Vargändsnö before it entered its slumber.   Influence
Vargändsnö incites its subject with fear. Snorjorians fear the awakening of the Titan, amongst a variety of other things. The fear doesn't always manifest as something tangible, but causes certain subjects to reach certain extents.

The fear instilled in people has caused many a Warlord to invade the mainland in an attempt to escape the influence of their Titan. It also causes many Snorjorians to be fearful of those that come from the mainland, which actively impedes trade relations between the mainland and the islanders.   Another small effect of influence caused by the Titan is that of Bloodlust. Some Warlords have an insatiable bloodlust that causes Snorjoro to often be in a state of war. Many of those who are afflicted by the Bloodlust will fight for their entire life.   Favour
Those who appease Vargändsnö and receive its favour gain a boon known as "Odödlig Ilska." They gain a huge increase of strength, speed, dexterity and endurance during moments of severe distress. Warlords who receive the favour of Odödlig Ilska will often apply markings to themselves to denote them as Vargändsnö's Chosen, as both a way to incite fear in their enemies, as well as garner respect from their peers.

Kukonahesawai

Unknown to most, The Beast The Beckons is in fact a Titan. One that survived the crystallisation and fossilisation of the Titan's of the explored regions within Fearann ùr. This was due to the simple fact that the Beast remained within the Deep, unaffected by the quarrels that persisted upon the mainland. The Beast roams the Deep, ensuring its domain remains unhindered by lesser beings. That often means hunting any ships that are unfortunate enough to stray within its reach.   The Beast's Titan name has long been lost to history, and its new name weirdly originated within Snorjoro.   One of the unfortunate side effects of the quick escape of Vindryttare, was that the Beast was never identified. Some of the sailors insisted that the beast was the ocean itself, other's recall a snakelike body slithering just below the surface, but an exact description alluded them. Due to this, some people don't quite believe in the Beast's existence, yet expeditions in to the Deep still don't often happen.

Influence
Like all Titans, the Beast has influence over the people that live amongst its region. Though the exact reaches of the Deep are unknown, and people who are affected by it are too unknown. The Beast, however, influences its subjects in a peculiar way.   The Beast influences its subjects with lust. Like all influence, it has its caveats — it often resides as a burning passion for *something.* People afflicted by the Deep's influence often find themselves with an ambition for a goal and strive their entire life with trying to complete that ambition, becoming disinterested with everything else in the process.   Favour
The Beast favours its subjects with talent. Those that follow their ambition and strive to complete it, will be rewarded with talent. This may be in combat, or something mundane, or perhaps something to further achieve their ambition — The Beast does not have bias.
