06 - Castle Inn
General Summary
Ranasday (Tuesday), Orastanna 23rd (Evening)
After leaving the City Hall, the party proceeded to the Castle Inn to spy on Karle Orlan. There, they saw him meet with an unknown Midean, a judge from the City Hall, and a few other people, including his nephew, Evert von Morrin.
When Orlan and the others went into a secluded room for a meeting, Harra went to spy on them from the courtyard and overheard four words of their conversation: "shipment" "garrison" "blockade" and "army" Meanwhile, the others were talking with Tolrik and Adalwin about their stay in Dern and learned that Adalwin was previously a diplomat in Midea, but that the people there are "cold." You also overheard an elf and a gnome that you vaguely recognized from the banquet discussing the possiblity of an attack on the gnome's country by the goblins to their north.
When Orlan left with his nephew, Nialda pickpocketed the nephew, managing to steal a love note from Evert's lover which revealed a rendezvous at the Castle Park. Later went to the park to spy on the lovers and discovered that their families are opposed to their union and that they want to elope. The party agreed to help them get away and to gather support for them so they can go abroad to Port Rissan, where they might live as artists.
After this, the party went back to the castle to report in to Gianos and the Duchess. They agreed to pay for the passage on a ship for Evert and Magalda, as long as the party ensures that the young lovers are married prior to leaving Dern. They also supply the components so that Quen-li can cast the ceremony spell on them.
