Castle Deres

Castle Deres guards the Donn Pass- anything passing from east to west or visa versa on the main road will pass through this fortification. It is the ancestral seat of the Deres family, now the ruling dynasty of the Autonomous Duchy of Dern. It houses a significant garrison, known as the Eastern Dragons. They sometimes patrol the Pass and beyond to the Sea, but mostly they check that the traders passing through have paid their taxes and aren't smuggling illegal items.
The Castle itself and the town surrounding it are built of ancient stonework that has repeatedly been strengthened throughout the years.
