High Elves

The history of the High Elves is extremely complex, as it relates heavily to the current state of most other races and religions.   After Surtr’s defeat during the War of Ascendance, Yune’s creations initially separated. Due to the fact that Yuné created the Lethe from humans of various tribes and villages, after the war ended, those tribes decided to return to their initial homes. Of course, this was not absolute. Many bonds had been formed during this period, so there were mixtures amongst Yune’s new creations, which led to numerous highly-diversified communities.   As a result of this, alongside the fact that the continent was experiencing a newfound peace from the absence Surtr’s forces, these societies began to progress at a rapid rate. Advanced metropolitan areas began to form, cities the size of which was unthinkable during the War of Ascendance became possible, and cultural and technological innovation began to thrive, marking the start of what is now referred to as the Era of Ascension.   It is during this time that a rift between what would eventually become known as Wood Elves and High Elves began to form. Those who are now known as Wood Elves are those who wished to return to the ways and teachings practiced during the Progenitor Era, while those who are known as High Elves are descendants of those that thought it time to create a new society between all of Yune’s creations, which would eventually become known as the Era of Ascension.   From religious practices to metropolitan development, High-Elves spearheaded the efforts in their creation alongside other prominent Lethe. Thanks to the efforts of the High-Elves and Lethe, science and culture flourished, and it was thought that it would not be too long before Ferox would return to the level of prosperity it once had during the Progenitor Era.   Unfortunately, such things were not meant to last. As numerous political, religious, and environmental disputes would reach a boiling point, leading to the Era of the Collapse, often referred to as the 1000-Year war.   It is during this war that the High-Elves would truly become what many know them as today. The most prominent cities and locations in Ferox today would be taken and held by the High-Elves, as they would prove to be one of the most effective forces in the Thousand-Year War. Historians believe that, if not for Yune’s intervention in creating the Trial, the High-Elves would have eventually won the war, and either rule or eliminate humans and Lethe alike.   Despite Yune’s intervention, however, the fact remained that High-Elves remained in control of some of the most prominent and important locations in Ferox, cementing their political and financial power to this day.   Due to the relatively low birth rate of Elves, most High-Elves are those of prevalent economic standing. They are most commonly found in large, prosperous cities with a dense population. More prominent institutions, particularly those of a religious nature, will grant High-Elves a certain additional level of respect.
