Ring of Crude Fate
Known as Ring of Sacred Rules, connected with the town hall Tablet that contained hundreds of laws written on it. What’s known about this town, anyone that got in never got out. And yet with all the rumor about this town, the town still prospered. As a part of the Rite of passage, to become a member of the society, one had to abode the law. If a person tried to rebel against the rules, the ring would invoke its rage by curse the person also the one who connected to him/her. But if a person stayed true to the law for 10 years, prosper they would be. The Rite of Passage itself consisted of:
1. When enter the town by passing town gate or using the harbor, town greeter will approach that person. One must abode the law to enter the town by accepting the wooden ring (“as a souvenir”) and wearing it at least until passing the entrance.
2. Passing the gate will trigger the anomaly (wooden ring suppressed the presence of anomaly). A small mark will appear on the finger, in a shape of a ring.
3. Anyone who just received the mark will be known by all townsperson, where they will direct them to nearest inn, and several landmarks especially the Town Hall Tablet.
4. If the marked doesn’t go to the Town Hall Tablet, townsperson must create a chain of events that lead the marked into the Town Hall Tablet (by law). So, the marked must not suspect anything.
5. When the marked reach the Tablet, a cleric must give them a preach and or a pamphlet, book / notes about the law.
6. Once the condition has been fulfilled, the mark will lock one’s fate and his/her fate will be under the law, forever.
7. To make sure everyone works accordingly to the will of the Tablet, the Tablet will communicate via telepathy. The mark always be watch upon the person, even if the Tablet doesn’t know what the marked did.
8. A number of Watcher will walk around the town to make sure no smuggler gets inside, especially if one brings an illegal passenger. Everyone that enter the town must show their fingers. Also, under the law, townsperson have to watch out for any suspicious person and have to tell the watcher or guard for the interloper.
9. Types of curses are unique and can be different for each person. The curse will affect a number of people, especially with a great connection (in best friend, relationship, married, family). The more one betrays the rules, the curse become stronger and eventually leads to death. The shape of the ring also changes.
The townspeople separated into few groups:
The main sanctum
Only one and that’s the Tablet itself. The tablet, by people perspective, seen as a normal giant stone tablet that was erected in the middle of the town (Town Hall). But when the tablet was seen from another world perspective (soul world), its form resembles a crowned giant head with its lower half (around the mouth) sunk to the earth, and two arms with a lot of rings and marks that comes out from the ground that bends inhumanly. Behind it, there’s a giant circle that resembles a wheel with strange writings and lines that looks like wires. “The Tablet” capable of speaking through telepathy, controlling emotions, using magic and superhuman strength.
The inner sanctum
Known as the people who knows the secrets of Town Hall Tablet and The Ring of Crude Fate. Also known for their position as the most trustworthy for the Tablet, as they become the voice of action and the guardian of the Tablet.
a. Watcher
The one who seeks and captures the intruder, also as the symbol of law. They oversee the guards and all security in the city. Their robe characterized with a mask without mouth hole and a long robe with an eye symbol on the right side, a symbol of sword & shield on the back, and a symbol of ring on the left side.
b. Slither
The one among the darkness, their job to search for intel (espionage), hunt, sabotage, kidnap and kill anyone that endanger the peace of the town.
c. Savory
The first ten people who been blessed by the Tablet. They become the main symbol of power and authority in the town. They own the business, military, and all facilities in the town. The list of the families:
Authum (leader of business), Fallary (leader of military), Pontine (leader of townspeople), Juon (leader of cleric), Gal-had (master of harbor & gateway), Malahad (leader of architectural), Bifet (leader of the work union), Arklerry (leader of bank & economy), Silith (master of rumor, intel & technology), Oktowari (leader of health & produce).
The middle sanctum
a. Joyful
The townspeople that has been blessed. They’re known as the eye, hand and mouth for the Savory. Only the Joyful are allowed to meet with the Savory.
b. Cleric
The one who preaches about the law and the only way for one to absolve his/her curse.
c. Guard Captain
The one who instruct the guards and militias. They’re also the one who act as a warden and master executioner.
d. Spider
Consist of beggars who lives all around the town. They become the extended arm for the Slither. Every member of Spider is known for the loyalty for the Slither, including suicide if necessary.
The outer sanctum
a. Mindless
Or one can say, the townspeople themselves.
b. Mourn
The one who ill or cursed by the mark. Most people died from the cursed, but some turned into a monster called Outreach, since they’re already death (in term of soul and mind), but their body and instinct still remained. The Outreach are controlled directly by the Tablet.
The truth about this being, it’s born from the people who believe the fate, fate that binds them and controls their lives. They believe if someone tries to disobey and break the fate, he/she will be cursed and destroyed for his/her insolence act.
