Dungeon Wheat

Dungeon Wheat = only grows in deep shade or underground. Typical of wheat this is a grass with a large seed fruit. While rarely domesticated (limited to mostly subterranean species like goblins, orcs, dark elves and others) this grass withers and dies in light brighter than twilight. In total darkness this grass grows pale white to golden brown when harvested. The brighter the light the more green it turns. The flour made with this wheat of the largest source of carbohydrates for those who live the subterranean life. It does grow better in the warmer climates of the underground and geothermal vents cause it to thrive leaving some scholars to believe it has adapted from photosynthesis to geosynthesis. Still other scholars believe its a parasitic plant that lives off the nutrients of moss, lichen, fungus and similar plants.
