Flat Tailed Koaber

Flat Tailed Koaber – This creature is an unusual combination of a koala and a beaver. It lives exclusively in the Ranzin forest near smaller water ways eating the leaves of only the Red spice gum tree. A tall tree that grows flowers twice a year. The Koaber chew down other trees that would choke out the red gum trees and use the fallen timber to build dams and large nests in the center tops of the red gum. The dam builds enough of a water source for new trees and the Koaber actually cultivate new red gums by planting them. This fresh water environment helps create habitats for river otters, Rock Turtle and a water source for many other animals as well.
