Phoenix Berries
Phoenix berries are like blueberry & green apple combined. This berry grows in a briar style of bush often wild in the under canopy of the forests. It takes little light and some even say the darker the area of growth the sweeter the fruit. For this reason the farmers often grow this in rows around the orchards to keep other invasive weeds from growing. The berries are large like a small apple and vary in color from bush to bush. The most common is a red and orange color, followed by a red and yellow, with the rarest being a white with blue streaks. It has a small "pod" of tiny dark blue seeds in the center and when making juice the seeds are often harvested and dried to top on pastries as they are edible. All taste the same no matter the color with but some desire the rare color just because its rare. The fruit is a slightly pulpy like a blueberry or plumb and is very juicy. The flavor ranges through sweet and tart. The juice is a light pinkish color similar to the color of the meat of the fruit. For some reason this fruit does not ferment well and often stays fresh for many years when bottled. This is half the reason the fruit has its name as many believe it is a sort of rebirth of the fruit followed by the fruits color.
