Shocker Vines

Shocker vines - This vine like plant has a unique defense mechanism. While most plants have thorns or poisons for defense this vine uses an electrical shock. Unlike most other vines this one prefers to thrive in bright sunlight ground cover. While it will climb walls or other structures like other vines it survives by covering a larger area. Generally speaking the brighter the lighted area the stronger the shock, scholars believe the plant collects sunlight and converts it to electricity. Small bulb like fruit, grow on the vines acting as storage for this electricity. The stems of the vines have a somewhat coppery hue while the leaves have a dark green color when mature and bright blue green when first budding. Crossing a field of this vine during the day light or even the early evening can be deadly. Some animals can and do eat this plant but only do so at night with little to no moonlight. On nights of full moons and bright rings slight bluish light can be seen along the vines. This vine seems to grow well near copper mines or areas that have large copper deposits. Arcane casters often collect the bulb fruit for potions and spell components. Halflings sometimes use the vines after treating them as wire for electroplating gold and other precious metals. Sometimes called volt vines.
