Spotted Groulet

Spotted Groulet – A semi domesticated game bird, falling somewhere between a grouse and a large chicken. This bird is semi flightless only able to sustain low flight for a few dozen meters. Its distinctive brown and gray spots on the tail feathers and its rich head feathers ranging from deep emerald green to a rich sapphire blue identify it. A rare verity of “snow” Groulet is raised in colder climates with white feathers and a colorful head. This bird produces eggs about the size of goose eggs ranging in color from ruddy sand with dark brown spots to almost white with light brown spots. Both the eggs and the meat of this bird are harvested for food. The feathers are used in decorating everything from clothing to hats to bows and scabbards.
