Seelie Court

Relationships

The Seelie Court is divided into two circles. The Inner Circle is closely associated with Queen Titania, and includes her consort King Oberon, their children Damh and Verenestra, their court jester Squelaiche, and Eachthighern, their steed. The Outer Circle is more loosely allied, and either do not consider Titania to be their liege, as Skerrit does not, or spend most of their time away from the court, as Fionnghuala does. Still, Titania bears them as much love as she does the members of the Inner Circle.   The Seelie Court is allied with the Seldarine, or elven pantheon led by Corellon The Archeart. Erevan Ilesere, who is said to be Eachthighern's mother, is an especially close ally.

Realm

The Seelie Court is its own planar realm that travels between the various Upper Planes as its members desire, most frequently on the Beastlands (on the twilit layer of Brux), Ysgard, and Arborea. It normally manifests as a wooded area with many glades. Its weather changes in accordance with Titania's mood; it may be peaceful and calm or tempestuous and wild. It is normally lit by moonlight, but Titania can summon sunlight if she desires.   The members of the Court dwell in thickets, bowers, or underground halls, or hidden behind veils of magic. The souls of those who worshiped members of the Inner Circle in life dwell here as well, moving as the Court does.   The flow of time is variable and strange in this realm, so visitors may return to other realms and planes to find that more or less time has passed than they experienced. Glimpses of the past and future may be seen in reflective surfaces throughout the realm. Visitors are advised against accepting gifts from residents of the Seelie Court, as this may bind them in fealty to the givers.   Avatars of the Seelie Court may also hunt within the Fading Land known as the Court of Rings.

Tenets and Ideals

The Seelie Court concern themselves mainly with beauty, creativity, and purity. They can be succinctly characterized by a shared belief that "the ends justify the means." This is particularly true when the "ends" are aesthetically pleasing or otherwise artistic. They are also notoriously hedonistic creatures, especially when compared with the Unseelie, and show little to no regard for any collateral damage caused by their actions.   The Seelie are, in a sense, not very welcoming of outsiders--which is to say that "joining" the Seelie Court is not something often permitted. In general, the Seelie will not allow non-fey to be truly included within their social circles. While being invited to attend their parties is extremely common, being a guest rarely means being treated with respect. While the Seelie do tend to approach outsiders with curiosity and indulgence, there can be terrible consequences for those who get mixed up with them. For example, there are many cases of mortals--and especially children--being permanently stolen away from their families simply because a fey found them amusing or entertaining. While the Seelie Court is often mistakenly thought of as "the good fey," there are many among them who would be considered "evil" by more common standards. It is important, therefore, not to form opinions of fey based on their court alliance alone.

Members

The members of the Inner Circle are:   Queen Titania, leader of the pantheon.   King Oberon, Lord of Beasts and sometime deity of the wilderness and animals.   Damh, the son of Titania and Oberon. He was the patron of satyrs, korreds, and atomies.   Eachthighern, lord of unicorns and pegasi.   Sqeulaiche, the Court Jester and patron of leprechauns.   Verenestra, the daughter of Titania and patroness of dryads, nymphs, and sylphs.   The members of the Outer Circle are:   Caoimhin, the small and shy patron god of the killmoulis.   Emmantiensien, the patron god of treants.   Fionnghuala, the patron goddess of the swanmays.   Nathair Sgiathach, the mischief-loving god of the faerie dragons and pseudodragons.   Skerrit, god of the centaurs.

Demographics

The Seelie Court was formed and composed by fey, more specifically by those who share certain traits: they tend to be more ceremonial and generally less harmful towards mortals than those from other courts. Among the fey of this court satyrs and changelings can be found. They also have mortal allies, like warlocks of powerful members of the court, and certain magical animals can also be allies of the Seelie.
