Capital

The Gem of the Crown Sea, Capital is a name that everyone knows. Each Kingdom largely depends on its trade for their own well being and strength.

Demographics

The majority of Capital is Human, yet it has far more diversity than any of the Kingdoms. A hefty third of the population is non-human, at 36%. That thirty-six percent is made of:   Beastfolk, 10% Elves, 10% Dwarves, 6% Halflings, 3% Gnomes, 3% Tieflings, 1% Others, 3%

Government

The Government of Capital is a sovereign oligarchy. It is unbound to the usual restrictions and formalities of government, existing mostly for the protection of itself and of its citizens--and for trade, of course.   The one in control of the city's protection, police, and levies is High Sovereign Eld Ruthnyr. Some know him as the Ruby City Dragon, though few know why. The mere mention of his name strikes fear in the hearts of the wanton. Those who mean well, however, have little problem with Ruthnyr, and most Capitalites see him as the face of their government.   Overseeing the city's trade laws, records, and general economy is High Sovereign Beld. Her mind is widely known to be as vast in knowledge as the Crown Sea is in size, and if nothing else, her prolific skill in arcane arts is able to show for it.   Lastly, managing Capital's diplomatic matters is High Sovereign Tru'el Arelia, a silver dragonborn woman with a tongue just as silver. She is capable of unlawful deceit as well as honest persuasion, and is often the 'face' of Capital's government to those outside the city.

Defences

The Defenses of Capital owe most of their success its nigh impenetrable walls, made of hardened stone and reinforced with tin. Royal guard regiments endure rigorous training for years before they're even able to serve, City Guards are screened almost as intensely, and infantry levies pull only the healthiest young men.    Capital's navy, however, is tenfold the size in numbers when compared to the city's footmen. The Golden Navy Fleet deters pirates and terrorists as if there were a god protecting the city.

Industry & Trade

"Much goes in, much comes out. Every day, all hours of the day. I'm surprised we haven't worn out the docks by now." - A Capitalite Sailor   Trade in Capital is even more prominent in the culture of Capital than it is in Vykha's. A third of its denizens serve, or have served, on a merchant ship. Another third manages the flow of goods in the city. And the last third buy or sell those goods.
