Spectral Dragon
The spectral dragon is both feared and respected, known for its brutality and its insatiable desire for knowledge. They reside in the space between reality and dreams, as that is where the best thinkers dwell.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Spectral dragons have a large, reptilian head with a long and muscular neck, balanced by an even longer tail. They have two pairs of muscular legs and a very large wingspan.
Their teeth are incredibly sharp and, coupled with their jaw, are built for tearing through their prey quite efficiently. Spectral dragons also have very specialized organs within their stomach, neck, and throat to allow them breath attacks with either fire, frost, lightning, poison, or sound depending upon their element. Their sharp claws are also well built for gripping or tearing.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Most spectral dragons are loners, although they do periodically convene to exchange knowledge and pleasantries. Those who have acquired the most knowledge are also the most revered.
Domestication
A spectral dragon cannot be domesticated. There are several myths involving successfully befriending a spectral dragon, typically through the offer of knowledge coveted by the dragon, but they cannot be tamed.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The spectral dragon resides on the edge of reality, that thin slice of mentality between truth and dreams.
Average Intelligence
As with all dragons, spectral dragons are shrewd and highly intelligent. These dragons however take this standard trait one step further, as they desire to hoard knowledge rather than riches.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Spectral dragons have heightened senses, well adapted for tracking prey and opponents at long range. This does mean they are not as effective across short distances, being forced to rely upon smell and sound at close range.
