Adventures in Greyhawk - 600 CY - 25 August Session Report
General Summary
With all repairs to the Azure Goat complete, the party set sail for Gradsul. Favorable weather and winds ensured their arrival there in only seven days.
The party told Captain Blackwater they wanted to spend less time finding cargo and he suggested hiring a factor to take care of their trades. He mentioned he knew of four or five people in Gradsul that might be interested and could check into it when they made port. He proposed consigning portions of their cargo to each in a competition to see who could get the best deal. They agreed and Blackwater was able to interest three individuals in applying for the position as trade factor of the Azure Goat.
With the factor competitors handling the sale of their cargo, the party ventured into Gradsul to deliver the Ashen Wand to Drawmij. Tim pressed him for a reward, but Drawmij pointed out it was better to have an Archmage owing them a favor than to settle for some mundane reward. They asked him about the amulet Ezkellion had given them and Drawmij, upon looking it over, told them it could be used to bind powerful archfey, but someone would need to attune to it in order to use it.
After finishing at Drawmij’s, the party stopped in various taverns to catch up on the rumor mill in Gradsul. One rumor was that an individual claimed to have a map to Alaric the Red’s sunken treasure. Alaric the Red, known as the Pirate King, was one of the princes in the Hold of the Sea Princes over 50 years ago. His ship and crew disappeared without a trace over 40 years ago. They also heard rumors of a crew killing a kraken in the southern Azure Sea. They pursued the rumors in each tavern they stopped at but were only able to narrow down a general description and the nickname of “Sharktooth” for their efforts.
Fynic elected to attempt to train the three parrots while others in the party turned in for the night. He was able to teach each parrot three words, although not the explicit meaning of those words.
The next day, Captain Blackwater informed the party the factor competitors had sold their cargo, with each securing respectable profits.
Mira Windshadow generated the most profit from the sale of their Teak, securing 12,000 gold for the 8,000 board feet.

Fendal Ironhand, unable to secure satisfactory pricing from distributors in Gradsul, cut out the middle men and sold the Amedio Banana Ale directly to multiple taverns and bars in the city, earning 11,500 gold.

Kelvin Quickfinger sold the sugar and Sasserine silk for a total of 19,500 gold.

The party interviewed all three, with Mira and Fendal making it to the second round of interviews. After much discussion, the party hired Fendal as their representative.
With this task complete, they trekked across town to Vil’s Magical Shop to secure some extra magic items for future operations. After a fair amount of haggling, they bought a Rod of Mimicry from Vil. They also asked him about the jade pendants, since Highgate is home to many from the Amedio Jungle. He revealed to the party that each had low level enchantments that acted as homing beacons to jaguar warriors.
Once they concluded their business at Vil’s, the party continued their search for Sharktooth, with Tim shopping a crude drawing of him to various bartenders and tavern patrons. After much searching, they found Riven Marrow (AKA “Sharktooth) in the Three Bells Inn, where he was trying to convince five patrons that he in fact had a treasure map. The party interrupted the patrons mocking Sharktooth and surprised him with their forward attitude. He was so taken aback that he refused to trust them or cooperate with them. Cerelia cast Detect Thoughts on him and confirmed he did in fact have what he believed was the treasure map of the Pirate King. Sylvia used Charm Person on him, separated him from his dinner companions, and the party took him to a more private table to have a chat with him. They found out he was part of a crew that found the shipwreck, but they could not get to it. Sharktooth wanted 500 gold for the map, which the party paid.
The party made their way back to the Azure Goat to review their map and were able to determine the location of the wreck, as well as read the threat of a curse on the ship. The party then told Captain Blackwater to be ready to sail for Jetsom Island in three days.
The map had the following note next to the X east of Jetsom Island: "We found the Sea Reaver in a kelp bed about 180 feet down, but couldn’t get near it…" and this curse on the left side of the map: "Beware, ye who seek the treasure of the sunken pirate ship! For the gold ye covet is cursed by the restless spirits of the drowned crew. Once ye set foot upon the deck, the curse shall bind ye to the ship, as the sea will claim yer soul".
