The Weave

The Weave is an ambient energy field that interacts with both energy and matter. It acts as a medium through which sympathetic vibrations of elements transfer between one another. The slang term for this is ‘M-Theory’, ‘matrix theory’, or ‘magic’.

This is the medium through which the Forerunners, and later the Torin Republic, discovered that sympathetic vibrations between elements traveled and interacted with one another. This medium was discovered to be supersymmetric strings within the fabric of spacetime and nature itself.

There are those trained individuals that interact with the Weave, called 'cyphermancers’. They ‘code’ temporary changes into the Weave to create desired effects in the world around them.

Manifestation

When the Weave is altered by a cyphermancer or by a natural effect, a visible aura appears around the object or element affected. Candles induced to burning through cyphermancy will take on a soft silvery-white aura, metal bullets charged with cyphermancy to create a plasma burst have a blue aura and so on.

Localization

There are times and places when the Weave’s vibrations become so intense they alter spacetime in a specific area. This is a very rare phenomenon and often temporary as the flow of the Weave is in constant motion and so will ‘correct’ its own course after a stretch of time.

Such areas where the Weave localizes is called a Weave Loom. Contrary to popular belief, it isn’t easier to work with the Weave in a Weave Loom. There the Weave’s vibrations are so concentrated, it becomes a chaotic crash of energy noise that is more resistant to ‘recoding’ than normal.
