Farms

When you travel through Fairy Gardens, you’ll very likely mostly travel between seemingly endless fields, wondering who is actually taking care of them. You probably won’t be too surprised to find out it’s people, but it’s the communities these people live in that are unique to this area.

Families of Fairy Gardens

Obviously, farms of these sizes need a lot of people to take care of them, and these people come from families, which, like everything else in Fairy Gardens, are much bigger than anywhere else in the world. Families here can have up to 150 or even 200 members. People here have romantic partners and BFFs like everywhere else, but they also tend to have a lot of children, you’ll hardly find a couple with less than 5 children. Then these children grow up, make their own BFFs and bring in their own romantic partners and eventually have their own children, which causes these families to grow very fast. Of course, a lot of them may leave the family to join another one, leave to make a family of their own, move from farms altogether and to towns or even other parts of the world, while some may still decide to have only a few kids or none at all. These are some factors that keep the family sizes in check, but in any case you will need a pretty big family to run your farm efficiently.

Structure of a farm

With the size of the farm and the amount of people living here, it’s clear that all these people need a lot of living space. These farms aren’t only mere farms that you may see in your world, these farms are small villages in their own right and have some of the standard buildings you can find on each of these farms.

Map of an average farm

Central Castle

These are where the official owners with their young children live. The children usually live here until the end of secondary school. Some already start moving out during secondary school while some may stay longer. They move to nearby smaller houses on the property. But of course, some children also stay on the farm and eventually take over leadership.

Houses

The central castle is surrounded by many smaller houses, where the rest of the families live in smaller groups. These families are usually up to 10 members big and consider themselves a family within a family. The families are also easier to manage when broken up into smaller groups.

Utility farm buildings and Animal Grounds

Of course, all of these people are here for one reason - to work on their farm. For this, they need many barns and sheds with all the farming tools and machinery, but also animals. They do get most of what they need from the outside, but it’s always good to have a few peacocks and geep to provide eggs, milk and wool needed on a daily basis.

Near these buildings there are also animal grounds where all of the unicorns, peacocks, geep and other animals can run free and graze on the fresh grass.

Farm Square

This is like a town square, but adapted to the needs of a farm. Since people here don’t have that much opportunity to leave their farm, they have to take care of their own entertainment. These squares are perfect for family gatherings, celebrations and feasts. Here, they may gather for an organized movie or tv series screening, perform their own plays or even concerts, or other types of games and other entertainment.

Temple

Farm squares are surrounded by other essential buildings, and one of these is the temple. It is run by Fairies who are essential members of any family here. In Temples people gather for worship, offerings and all the other official business that takes place in any temple. Here, part of the temple complex is also a herbal garden, where the residents of the farm can get all the herbs, medicine and other medical services they need.

Supply Storage

Families this big need a lot of food and other supplies to function properly. Supply storage buys everything the farm needs from other farms and areas of the world, and also holds the farm's own goods needed for the people on the farm. People generally come here for their monthly payments, and may leave here their donations to the gods.

Shops

People need a lot of stuff on daily basis, and going to the warehouse storage isn't always the most convenient way. This is why each farm has at least a few shops where people can buy what they need. These shops often also unclude a snack & drink bar and a more convenient post office for for people who may not be willing or able to get to the trading post.

School

With many families who each have many children, school is a much needed establishment here. There never is much more than 20-30 school aged children here, so the school is small with only a few class rooms. Children here are supervised and helped by adults, but a lot of classes take place online. Schools also have a recreational area on the lot, where children can play sports together. Adults are welcome to come here too. The school also has a small library that mainly holds school books, and is also a good quiet place to study and catch up on your school work.

Park

On a farm there is plenty of nature all around, but every housing area usually has a small park. This is a well maintained area with fancy paths, benches, flower gardens and fountains, like any proper park. It's a nice area for people to go and hang out at that isn't just a forest or wilderness

Trading Post

Last but certainly not least, the trading post is probably the most important part of the property. All the stuff that comes and goes, goes through here. The workers of the trading post are in charge of ordering and receiving supplies of goods form elsewhere, as well as shipping off the harvested goods and other items produced here. It also works as a post office, for everything any person living on the farm might need to send out or receive. For convenience, a trading post is located at the entrance of the property and also monitors all the visitors of the farm.

Fields and other farm goods

These farm properties have all the buildings they need on the lot, but most importantly, they are surrounded by acres of fields as far as the eye can see. These fields can be anything, from corn and rice, to cotton, poppy, lavender or anything you can possibly grow on a field. Pretty much every farm grows two types of crops, some might even do three or more.

But it’s not only crop plants that people on these farms tend to. These farms can also be completely dedicated to animals, trees and wood production, orchards, and probably some other stuff as well. All the stuff produced on these farms can get sold forward as raw materials, or made into a wide variety of products sold to people and shops all across the world.

Farms in comics

Farms may appear in BBOLJ and DANGER COMIC. The most notable farm is House of Dream, where Jade grew up.

The "rumors"

You may often hear the rumors going around the other sareas of the word and even the towns in Fairy Gardens that people living on the farms tend to marry each other, within the family. This is and isn't true. One thing that needs to be clarified is the they do NOT in fact marry their blood related family members. But spending most of their lives on the farm, surrounded by their large family a lot of whom they are not blood related to, they might marry within their family.
An Example of this is brought up in [pt.x], where it's mentioned that Jasmine and Amaranth are married to each other, but so are their brothers, Lotus and Bulgur.
