Flower Day

What is this about?

Flowers. They are something very precious and important to people of Fairy Gardens, and when you visit this area you’ll find it to be full of gardens. But flowers here aren’t valued only for their beauty, but other things as well, such as production of electricity. They are one of the main energy sources of this area, besides the sun, and as such it’s no surprise that they have a holiday dedicated to them.

But, you have to keep in mind that flowers work the best for producing electricity when they’re in their full bloom - in the months between the rainy seasons. The day the first flowers of the year reach their full bloom is on the 24th day of the 2nd month of the year, and that’s when the flower day occurs.

What does this day mean to people?

This day celebrates many things at once really. This is the day when the life officially returns to Fairy Gardens, in its full bloom. After the cold rainy season, now finally the nice warm weather is back, along with all of the flowers. And once flowers are back and able to produce more energy, life here can return to its normal track. Some people here consider this day to be the official start of the new year.

How is it celebrated?

Flower day has a few celebrations related to it, and the celebrations actually start the day before the main event. On this day people will gather and have fun together, and often they give each other potted plants to celebrate the new life they bring. People like to gather at each other's homes, but many also attend the public celebrations held at their local town squares. Music, food, drinks and other entertainment will keep them in a festive mood and awake for the main event the next day. Many will celebrate all night, though some do prefer to go to sleep early that night and wake up just in time for this main event.

What is this main event you ask? This is the tradition of flower watching. This tradition is especially popular in more populated areas with apartment buildings covered in flowers. In these areas, people gather early in the morning to observe these flowers overgrowing the building, as this will be the day when the flowers finally bloom. This will happen right when the sun rises. People will anticipate the moment and welcome the flowers with loud cheering. You’d be surprised, but all these flowers do tend to bloom all at the same time right after the sunrise, and it’s a glorious and spectacular sight.

After the flowers bloom, people will stay and celebrate for a while, but many who stayed up all night might soon go to sleep. This, and the previous day, are days off for people of Fairy Gardens so they can celebrate and rest properly.
