Smart Devices
What are smart devices?
In our modern world it’s no surprise that we often tend to rely on technology. Chatting with friends, doing business and school work, learning new skills, shopping, playing games, checking news, reading books, watching movies and shows, checking weather, checking opening times of your favorite shops, following posts of your favorite celebrities, keeping updated on interesting events in your area, controlling certain aspects of your own home, all that and so much more is readily available to all of us though conveniently sized smart devices we all keep in our homes, or even carry around in our pockets. In the ancient days these devices came in a variety of TVs, computers, phones, tablets and similar devices, but today, all of these have mainly been unified into devices that mostly serve the same functions, but vary in sizes. As such, they are today generally divided in 3 groups: small portable ones comparable to ancient smartphones, medium sized for casual use, similar to ancient tablets or laptops, and large household ones that combine the functions of tabletop computers and TVs.
Types of smart devices
All of these generally perform the same tasks in the same ways. All are touch screen devices that rely on use of different applications, which can easily be connected with multiple devices through your personal accounts. Of course, different devices are more convenient for different kinds of uses, and here’s a quick rundown on what each of them does.
Personal devices - phones
While significantly different from the first phones, the name “phone” seemed to have stuck through ages and it still sticks today, though phone calls are now only a small part of what these devices do. Aside from calls, these devices are really small portable computers that fit in your pocket. They perform a wide variety of actions from business to free time, from socializing to playing games or reading books. They can be connected with other devices such as earphones, pens, keyboards or even gaming consoles. They use wireless connection, to make this more convenient.
Portable devices
These are medium sized devices, best for casual daily use. They perform all the same tasks as the phones do, but are much more convenient for writing documents, doing work for school or job, watching videos or playing games. They offer better performance and work better for more complex tasks that need a larger screen, but aren’t as conveniently portable, and calling people will be ridiculous at best if you don’t have some earphones to connect to it.
Household devices
Portable devices are neat and all, but it’s good to have something bigger in your home as well. These usually work as a TV and people’s household computer. You can use them for the same things as the smaller ones, but are better at performing more demanding tasks while the larger screen provides a better picture. You can connect them with a variety of other devices, such as a keyboard or a mouse, and they are also the best choice to connect your gaming consoles to. Because they are used as a more stationary and general household device, they are also perfect for connecting with other smart devices in your home and control many functions of your modern smart home, such as adjusting AC, lights, or even remotely control your appliances such as your washing machine, fridge or stove.
This service is easy to connect to your portable smart devices as well, in case you want to start your washing machine on your way home from work and let it finish it’s job by the time you get home. But all of this is a whole other thing we won’t get into here.
