  They’re found all over the place and generally considered a nuisance. They move slowly and hold up travellers if a large group decide to cross a road. They’re huge and heavily armoured, so they’re hard to kill. Harmless unless you try to mess with them, but throwing something at their shell will just be ignored.

  They don’t go after humans for food in normal circumstances, but they are fiercely territorial and aggressive. They stay away from cities and well-travelled roads, so they aren’t usually a problem.

  Originally domesticated in the tropical scrublands farther north, they came to Hosquerre a few centuries ago via trade. They are used to haul heavy carts or ploughs, carry multiple passengers, or pile supplies on their backs. They are used in most of the same ways Rooter birds are, but with more bulk and less speed.
