Personal history
Ben-Asir was the first child of the previous Great Prince. He held the title of prince since birth, and grew up surrounded by luxury and splendour in the royal palace in Zedda.
He married the daughter of a prestigious noble named Zakiti when he was 20. Zakiti proved to be a shrewd negotiator of whom he was very fond, but unable to provide children. Ben-Asir frequently surrounded himself with concubines. With various concubines, he fathered several children.
His father died when he was 26 years old. He was pronounced Great Prince, and took over his father's religious duties.
