Eisigdeer (eye-zig-deer)

Deer in Eisigfeld

Basic Information

Anatomy

Eisigdeer are white-coated cervidae. Standing on four slender legs, these animals also have a slightly longer tail than their elk and moose relatives.

Growth Rate & Stages

An eisigdeer’s gestation period are 7 months. They then grow through their childhood years until reaching maturity at 5 years. At 10 years, they are at an elderly stage but rarely reach this point due to hunting and other survival complications.

Ecology and Habitats

It is hypothesized that eisigdeer are optimally better in slightly warmer climates but adaptation has allowed them to live well enough in the cold continent. Regardless, these animals survive mainly off their slightly more thick coat and forage off of the pine trees and what few berries grow in bushes.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Eisigdeer are herd animals that sweep across the land. They are led by the strongest and capable among them, which is decided every mating season.

Domestication

It is possible to coax an eisigdeer into domestication and even be used as a mount. They are not animals that easily trust handlers but once that trust is gained, they rarely fight back or kick a fuss.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Icyglicans utilize their furs in crafting warm coats. Antlers are used for trophies from the mightiest among them. If they are lesser racks, then they’re used for tools like handles or for utensils such as forks. As expected, their meat is also valuable for food.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Eisigdeer are found sporadically throughout Eisigfeld’s frost-covered forests.

Average Intelligence

Eisigdeer are adaptable creatures when in conflict but they are not the smartest compared to other deer.
