Dealing with Despoilers

General Summary

Name Class
Abbott Warlock
Clovis Fighter
Henrietta Blood Hunter
Yohgrï Cleric

A Missing Arcanum Infinitum

For Abbott and Henrietta

Henri apologized to Abbott about withholding information regarding his daughter's fate. She unsure of how, or even when, to deliver such sensitive information. Afterward, Setesk's arrival meant he disclosed a "Tale of Two Abigails" as he put it after communing with spirits.

It seemed that the Shade's Abigail had fallen to her death. A "Witch," as the Shade puts it, believed the shade guilty of the crime despite being only a witness. Countless accusations from this Witch had hindered the Shade from living a quiet life, so he took her life as well.

Henri also asked about Clovis' condition. To Setesk, he believed it an odd blend of Fell and Null powers, which would explain why he looks rotten and still able to use this newfound magic. If not resolved in a long yet timely manner, Setesk estimates that Clovis will be hollowed by the Host.

Afterward, around midnight, the Arcanum Infinitum began to have muffled screaming. Turned out that Yohgrï had placed a Magic Mouth spell on it. The book flipped over to a blank section at the end and requested a Dispel Magic after it had lost trust with Yohgrï. Abbott provided, ending the spell.

Yohgrï was furious that the Arcanum Infinitum was no longer in his possession. He stormed through the camp, even bursting down Abbott's door off the hinges. Sitting at his desk, not even looking at the lizardfolk, he simply told him to "close the door." Yohgrï did what he could and proceeded to Henri's wagon.

Clovis quickly jumped over to Henri, turning her invisible to help her out. Abbott utilized a Dimension Door spell when she got to his wagon so they both could escape with a rough 500-foot head start.

Dealing with Despoilers

Whilst out in the woodlands, Abbott and Henri met with Skevik, the imp messenger for Mirmeia. He was told to wait until they grouped back up with the rest of party. This was only a sign of what was to come in the morning.

Yohgrï finally calmed down from his itch to get the book back after having hot chocolate around the campfire. From there, the party met with these odd icons.

Leuklen

Pulled through via some odd dream during the night prior, Leuklen reached out to the Party. He offered them allegiance to fight his rivals in exchange for whatever they would wish to know.

Rasmus

In the foggy morning, Rasmus met with them in-person, explaining that he offered the party meat shields, bodies, whatever manipulation of the flesh they could want. That is if they join him in taking on his Despoiler rivals.

Mirmeia

Through the guidance of Skevik, the imp setup communication with the demon Mirmeia via a ritual involving red candles. She offered the party material valuables for the allegiance against the other Despoilers.

A Wedding

What all the Despoilers mentioned or referred to was an upcoming wedding between Kellistra and Tenerian. Through forced smiles and gritted teeth, all three Despoilers loathe this event as they wanted to be the desire for attention of their beloved Herald of Ruin. To support her, everyone is invited.

For now, the party is still unsure if it's worthwhile to even align with a Despoiler or try to go about it their own way.

Campaign Hiatus!

The Haunting of Blackrot campaign is on a temporary pause for this holiday season. In its place, there will be a "holiday special" mini-campaign called the "Servitor Arc." A campaign set in an ongoing Strixhaven game now with the group being 3rd years! However, an odd figure comes to them when they least expect it, hoping to make "arrangements."
