Bath - City of Guilds
Bath was founded in -537 DR by Sulis Magnus Ravenna as a resort city. Bath was built on the remains of the city of Samnite. Sulis defeated the Samnites at the Battle of Lake Regillus and leveled the city. Sulis was taken with the beauty of the area and loved the hot springs. The city marked the southern and westernmost advance of the Imperium Empire.
Most of the residents of the city were immigrants from Westgate. Many retired generals took residence in great villas outside the city and they brought with them, servants and tradesman. Even today Bath has the look and culture of Westgate. The citizens of the Imperium were builders and they constructed an aqueduct to irrigate the vineyards and supply fresh water to the villas. Broad and sturdy roads reach out of the city and into the countryside. The Great Road leads north to Halarahh and east through the Gap in the Eastern Wall.
With the fall of the Imperium, Bath was ruled by Marcellus Creo, the former general of the 17th Legion. He ruled as a dictator with the ceremonial title of the Chairman. Bath was a free city for several hundred years until the arrival of the survivors of Karsus's Folly. The airships and spell power of the Netherese forced the free city to yield and become reluctant citizens of Halruaa.
The skilled engineers and tradesmen of Bath have designed and built many of the great works in the kingdom.
