Language and Understanding

"Sandstone!" -A typical dwarven expletive.   "Season's end." -Elvish expression meaning "it is what it is."   Every culture and every race throughout all of Faerun have come up with some form of mantra, saying, proverb, or likewise. Often times such expressions tend to blend together in larger settlements such as Waterdeep or Baldur's gate, where such sayings have origins well beyond the known realms. A more commonly known form of this amalgam of languages is the Thieves' Cant utilized by many of the rogues and agents of stealth and subterfuge, which is largely responsible for many of the expressions within the City of Sails, Luskan.   What's an expression from a kingdom, culture, realm, or individual your character might have heard? What does it mean? What circumstances led to its creation?   As always, your contribution can be as long or short as you want. Who knows? Maybe we'll end up saying it ourselves at sessions to come! Happy writing, everyone!
