A Little Jingle

Music is often used as an expression of not just artistic capability, but as a reflection of society, a chronicle of culture, historical account, and much more. There are many different forms of it across Faerun, especially so with its wide range of races and cultures, not to mention the number of different societies scattered across the hills, mountains, islands, and forests.   The homework assignment this time is a little different, but potentially no less relevant to your character if they have a favorite tune: what's a song you know from anywhere in the lands of Faerun?   This could be something you post a link to by way of sharing a particular composition you like as a player, or a few lines from one of your favorite verses that might be relevant to your character. Or if you want to compose a few lines yourself, or even the music itself (Looking at you Emma), it's your choice! Lastly, this could just be a description of a song your character likes as well.   By way of trying to flesh out the world a little bit more, list your song here and let's see if we can get a few jingles established as cannon!

I'm adapting the song "The Mask and the Mirror" by Poor Man's Poison.   After the fall of Elturel, the Tieflings associated with the event often carried the reputation of being Hellspawn affiliated with the circles of Hell. While some embraced this reputation, this song was written as a way of bridging the expanse created after the descent and subsequent reclamation of the city. In this case, the song illustrated the Tiefling's cultural and personal conflict, composed as a folksong to be sung around campfires and hearths that non-Tieflings might sympathize with the demonization of Tieflings, but also to inspire other Tieflings to cling to hope and live as individuals, proud, and undaunted.   The refrain "I'll see you on the other side of Hell" is actually meant to inspire those enduring hardship to carry on, promising hope once the trials have passed. If one can pass through Hell, they are promised something better on the other side.   Callum has heard this song a few times, relating to several parts of it himself, and was originally introduced to it by his wife Orianna.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dMeYGyTsYg   I feel it on my skin When the darkness settles in And I know it's time First the quiet, then the pain And I'm back in hell again And I wanna die   You might find me in the shadows You might see me in the light But you'll never know the demons that I fight And this face I wear for you Goddamn, I wear it well And I'll see you on the other side of hell   I'll walk around in silence All the while in need of guidance through the haze And I try to do my very best But this heart is dark inside my chest these days (these days) (these days)   You might find me in the shadows You might see me in the light But you'll never know the demons that I fight And this face I wear for you Goddamn, I wear it well I'll see you on the other side of hell (ooh_   There's comfort in the pain sometimes (ah) And I tend to tell myself these little lies (ah) And I feel it like a storm inside (ah) When I've lost the will to live, I've lost the fight   You might find me in the shadows You might see me in the light But you'll never know the demons that I fight And this face I wear for you Goddamn, I wear it well And I'll see you on the other side of hell   You might find me in the shadows You might see me in the light But you'll never know the demons that I fight And this face I wear for you Goddamn, I wear it well I'll see you on the other side of hell
