Forgotten Realms

Year: 1491   The world of Toril is full of mysteries. It is known that the world is ancient, but few have any inkling of how ancient. There are vast regions that have never been seen by civilized eyes, and many more that were once discovered or settled, only to be lost again. There are continents and islands and vast seas to be explored, many of which have signs of ancient civilization, and all with their share of dangers and monsters. As of today, civilization clings to life in a few scattered and loosely affiliated bastions, while most of the world is wilderness. A few large cities, with outlying towns and villages, and many scattered backwoods settlements and outposts of the edges of what is known. The history of Toril is vast and intricate, but few know of anything more than a handful of generations ago, and there are many ancient things for which all knowledge has been lost.
