Order of the Gauntlet
Founded in 1489 DR as a response to the growing threat of the Cult of the Dragon, the Order of the Gauntlet was a coalition of morally upstanding warriors, knights, paladins and clerics who dedicated themselves to the destruction of evil in Faerûn. Its members act on their own authority, identifying threats and destroying them before they can grow. They are a unified group, bonded by either their intense religious beliefs or dedication to enforcing justice in the realms. To these brothers and sisters in arms, evil had to be dealt with and could not be ignored.
Most often, Knights of the Gauntlet worshipped either the God of Protection, Helm; two of the deities of the Triad, Torm and Tyr; as well as the Poet of Justice, Hoar. While the Order is often found diving through dungeons to weed out evil, they know that evil can lie within anyone. Members are often found spending hours in deep prayer to keep their own thoughts and emotions in check.
The Order of the Gauntlet believes that all sentient beings must come to the light of reason and goodness of their own volition. They focus on setting a good example for others to strive for instead of attempting to control the actions of others. They do not pass preemptive judgement, striking only when evil deeds have been committed. This does not mean they are passive however. The Order is always watching and relying on their resoruces to seek out evil whevere it occurs.
