GM Report - New Faces & Old Friends

General Summary

Day Twenty-One

In the morning, Godfrey packs up the small blanket and returns to his duties.

Dillion discusses the possibility of creating new silk with Nyerhite. He speaks to the Wood Carvers about creating a spinning wheel. They talk to Nyerhite to get the specs needed to create the wheel.

Day Twenty-Two

Godfrey approaches Chenna in the evening to return the blanket. Chenna admits that it's Malaekliss's blanket. Godfrey asks Chenna to return it to her.

Hjolgarn tries to seduce Tyjit.

Day Twenty-Three

Chenna returns Malaekliss's blanket to Dillion, mentioning that Godfrey had asked her to return it. Dillion mentions that Malaekliss had a dream of her grandfather and he mentioned that Godfrey needed some assistance. Chenna takes the blanket back to Godfrey.

Benjamin gives Hjolgarn a poem to read to Tyjit. Hjolgarn climbs on a crate and hollers out the poem at the top of his lungs. This display negatively effects Tyjit and she runs. Hjolgarn follows her.

Later in the day, a herd of deer is spotted grazing on a nearby hill. Among the herd is a magnificent stag that shimmers in the light as if its coat is spun from gold and its antlers plated with platinum. Everyone in the caravan who can handle a bow, tries to track and hunt the great golden beast.

The party manages to keep close track, but they lose the stag. When they stumble upon and search the tumbled ruins, they find no sign of the stag but see a thin person who resembles a wood elf with bright golden skin. The young male is naked and either is wearing an antlered headpiece. He drops to his knees and beseeches the characters in a dialect of Elvish that is archaic but understandable. He is an elf prince, and the stones around them were once the beautiful castle where he ruled. But he was cursed by the father of the woman he loved to transform into a golden stag whenever he steps outside these walls. He has lived with the curse for so long that his kingdom is forgotten, his castle is fallen to ruin, and he no longer remembers his own name. He believes that a wizard somewhere can release him from the curse, but wherever he goes, people try to kill him for his golden coat. If the characters allow him to accompany them and protect him, he will do his best to reward them at the end of the journey.

Godfrey searches through the elf's chest of memoirs, now fading to dust, and finds a carving of a beautiful woman. The elf laments that was his love for whom he was cursed. Dillion pulls out the cameo that once belonged to his mother. The elf recoils saying that was the face of the woman who cursed him so many centuries ago. The elf also searches among his crumbling belongings to find a small pendant that was given to him long ago. It was supposed to give him human form, but does not work for him. Dillion put the amulet on Malaekliss, and suddenly there is a small child where Malaekliss was once sitting.

Godfrey tries to create a disguise and a story for having found Malaekliss, when Dillion removes the amulet. Malaekliss is once again in her dragon form. Eilyse put the amulet on Mel, who becomes a real boy...though his low intelligence does not allow him to understand. He continues snuffling around on the ground as if he was still in badger form.

After relaying his story, the party agrees to take him to Waterdeep. They put together a plan to sneak the elf into one of the empty wagons.

Day Twenty-Six

Godfrey talks to Dillion about the circumstances in Waterdeep.

Day Twenty-Seven

Dillion redistributes items among the armor and silk merchant wagons.

Day Twenty-Eight

The caravan reaches Dragonspear Castle. The castle now in ruins, seems to have a large population of spiders. Outside of the perimeter there seems to be a camp with a lone horse tied to a tree. The horse seems spooked, but unharmed. The party investigates the ruins and fights a large number of spiders. Near the back of the ruins, the party find a body wrapped in cocoon of webbing. Dillion and Godfrey recognize the face of Vogin peering out at them. Upon removing some of the webbing, Vogin comes too and manages to wiggle free, leaving the cocoon mostly unharmed.

Vogin has some trouble seeing at first, but once his vision clears, he recognizes Dillion and Godfrey. He also recognizes Deigon, but notices Deigon looks much older now. Dillion and Godfrey notice that Vogin seems to have a haunted look to his eyes now.

Vogin was sent to deliver a message to Hjolgarn that he was needed back in Baldur's Gate. He had been on his way to intercept the caravan, when he was attacked by spiders.

Dillion organizes a group to collect as much webbing as possible to assist the silk merchant.
