GM Report - Thunder and Lightning, Very Very Frightening

General Summary

Day Eight

Dillion reaches an agreement with both merchants to transport the wares and oversee the guards.   Hjolgarn suggests that his wagon hold a drinking event to increase the sell of their wares.

Days Nine through Twelve

The weather seems to take a turn for the worst. There is lots of thunder and lighting. The rain starts as a light drizzle, but steadily increases until the caravan has to stop late in the day on the 12th day of the journey.

Day Thirteen

In the morning, the caravan wakes to a field of purple. There are mushrooms everyone and they are steadily growing larger before everyone's eyes. The merchants are terrified and fear they may be poisonous. Anyone who steps on the mushrooms are subjected to a puff of black spores and screams of agony as if the plants were alive and in pain.   Deigon and Godfrey have no idea what these things are or where they came from. Chenna thinks she knows what they are, and that they are actually poisonous. Benjamin, Hjolgarn, Eilyse, and Dillion all know that these tiny shriekers are not truly harmful and likely sprout from mycelium that has spread beneath the area from shallow caves.   Godfrey tries to mock the plants with no effect. Deigon burst an egg to commune with nature. Godfrey also tries to burst an egg, but it has gone rotten and exploded with a rotten stench. Dillion tries consulting his magical book, but the spirit within tries to be obstinate with him. With some time and effort, a path was cleared and the caravan resumed it's arduous journey towards Waterdeep.

Day Sixteen

The caravan has begun it's journey into the Trollsclaws and makes a stop for the evening at Trollclaw Ford.

Day Twenty

As it nears the end of the twentieth day, the caravan decides it's time to stop for the night. As they some upon their usual stopping point, there is already a few wagons stopped. Two buxom twin sisters are there setting up camp and tending to their horses. Arietta and Zelina Innevar take a liking to some of the travelers and spend the evening asking about their past, where they’re headed, whether they have family, and so on.   Malaekliss mentions to Dillion that the two sisters smell differently than the rest of the folks in the caravan. Dillion tries to speak with some of the other members of the party, and one of the sisters "overhears" the conversation. She tells her sister, and they lure Larion away from the camp with them.   Once the party notices the sisters are missing, they begin to search for them and a battle ensues when the party finds them leaning over a passed out Larion. During the battle, Dillion uses his reweave ability with Chenna and Eilyse within a short distance. They notice Dillion pause, but he does not speak, just has a distant look on his face as he reaches up with his hand to grasp something that is not there.   Once the sisters have been subdued, Ben casts Zone of Truth. It seems the sisters are resistant to the spell's effects this time. Only Chenna, Dillion, Godfrey, and Eilyse seems to have been affected. During the questioning, the one sister reveals her true nature as a doppleganger as she begins shifting into familiar forms. Godfrey
and Ben wanted them killed. Once Godfrey made his opinion known, he stalked off. There was some disagreement among the group. Deigon offered Ben his sward, Talon, to finish them off, but Ben balked at the challenge before him. In the end, the party agreed to leave them alive and move on without them. Dillion stayed behind for a few moments to make sure they had bandages once they awoke.   Deigon reveals that the two women were dopplegangers to his caravan.
