Session 5: Songs of Sleep Report

General Summary

The hobgoblin guards wasted no time and started flanking and attacking the Party. A door to the goblins’ main living area opened as well, and all kinds of violence started coming through. That very door proved to be a valuable asset to the heroes - opening and closing it had a big part in tipping the scales against the enemies. Erky with his healing spells and Meepo’s hobgoblin-slaying stones also proved invaluable and after a long hard battle, Durnn the hobgoblin leader along with his advisor were taken down. What remained of the creatures proved to be only a minor threat. Thorbjörn awarded himself with the Hucrele armor that Durnn was wearing. He spent the rest of the evening getting the heavy garment off the fresh corpse and slipping into it himself. The captured young and old goblins were declared released and sent away. They had some trouble understanding their new-found freedom, but settled in a room nonetheless, thinking about their future. After that, the heroes also took a little time off for a deserved rest.

1 Flamerule, 1393 DR (Day 3)

In the morning, after careful planning it was decided to find and take care of the kobolds’ dragon, since a key was found on Durnn likely to open the way to the creature. Erky needed some convincing with that plan, he did not seem optimistic about fighting a dragon. Shava’s persuasion skills (and a few shiny stones) managed to change his mind though. The key indeed worked. Erky managed to have a great ‘I told you so’ moment, when Calcryx the white dragon wyrmling seemed uninterested in returning with the party, and after failed verbal (and some physical) attempts to subdue her, she filled the room with ice cold breath, instantly killing Meepo and knocking out Thorbjörn and Hedid.

Norg didn’t lose his cool and used arcane powers to put the creature to sleep. Assisted by Cora, he tied the dragon up to give the heroes some breathing room. Hedid and Thorbjörn got to their feet thanks to a few healing spells and now a quick plan was needed. Unfortunately, the sleep effect wore off sooner than expected and the dragon’s immense strength proved enough to break the binds, so she was ready to defend herself again. Luckily, the Party’s positions allowed them to quickly close and lock the door while making a tactical retreat. The heroes headed back to Yusdrayl to discuss recent events with the kobolds.
