The Hunt for L

Deciding to deal with the mysterious necromancer associate "L" Boldreg, Jerald, Rurik, Nongo and Tonnia headed North after grouping up outside of town. Following the North Coast the party had a uneventful journey to the Gnome Black Market were there was expectedly less activity given the recent plague. After doing a bit of bartering and staying the night the party departed into the Scablands. Not much deeper into the crags the party discovered they were being followed by an ogre of the Twilight Suns clan. Jerald, having good relations with the ogres learned of a proposition of aid from the clan. In return for some of their stolen artifacts they would aid us in killing L. The catch is that since they didn't fully trust us, they want an important item to us as insurance we would go through with our part of the deal. Agreeing to their terms the Dread Orb of Orcus was entrusted to them and after another day of travel we found ourselves at the precipice of the great hole in the middle of the Scablands. Skirting around the sinkhole's edge we made way to the ogre's camp and were granted an audience with their leader, an ogre of frightening magical power. After giving the party a means of contacting them when we found the artifacts and disguises we made our way to the tower of Lechof who we then knew to be the name of L. Entering the tower we encountered a puzzle, who's trick was that though it seemed intimidating it was actually harmless, making fools of those who believed they was a puzzle at all. Ascending to the next chamber we filled a pool with different amounts of water to achieve the desired balance, a simple task that the party performed efficiently. The next chamber proved tricky as we were tasked with solving a "murder mystery" in which due to mix-up in translation we got wrong once and after a short yet painful fight we quickly deduced the right answer. Getting near the end the party's next trial was a room filled with pits and doors which teleported clockwork constructs and party members alike around the chamber, after dealing with the troublesome animated ballista at the far end of the chamber the combat was quickly wrapped up. After a rest the party realized that while there was an obvious path forwards that there were an odd number of teleportation doors and after a little bit of trial and error the group made their way to the secret treasure vault. One liar and truther blocked the path, but after a bit of questioning we made our way to the stolen ogre artifacts and after contacting them their leader returned the Orb of Orcus and traveled with us to encounter Lechof. Lechof, a man of finer taste, attempted to espouse some dialogue before rudely being attacked by Rurik. The ogre released a blast of dark lightning killing all the lesser cultists in the room before disappearing in a puff of smoke. Meanwhile Jerald suffered a horrific vision of being killed in an inferno of magical fire in a different timeline before snapping back to reality. After a great deal of pain, battered and badly out of resources the party abruptly ended Lechof and looted his chambers. In said chambers along with a number of treasures and a friendly pet danger noodle the party uncovered a number of letters and learned the name of an assassin dispatched to kill them in Fairhaven. With resounding agreement the group decided to deal with the interloper upon their return, before leaving the tower the next day after a night of merriment.

The Quest for Chad, An account by Tallion

Upon a star-light morning I finished my meditations in the graveyard and embarked to the meeting point of our newest expedition. Me, Nongo and Rurik had decided a day prior to recover the body of Nongo's fallen ally, Chad Boswick and after gathering some holy water and some other miscellaneous supplies we departed town and into the Ghost Coast. After half a day of travel we found a wrecked boat on the beach with a crate of spilled gold upon the shore. As Rurik attempted to fish the crate to him three shark-like humanoids emerged from the water and charged us, we were able to kill them after a close and bloody fight only to discover the majority of the treasure was fool's gold. We continued traveling until sundown were we made a camp on a cliffside, unfortunately we were ambushed by ghouls in the night, fortunately we dispatched them in an incredible display of teamwork and skill and were left unmolested for the rest of the night. Upon our second day of travel we made it to the beached shipwreck to discover that Chad's body was no longer upon the rocks. Upon further investigation we heard movement from within the ship's lower decks. Delving into the leaking coffin we made it down to the storage area to discover that Chad had been raised into a Ghastly Chad by necromantic forces and he was accompanied by several zombies. Nongo's shield did not fail him as he held the hoard back as myself and Rurik rained consecrated arrows upon them. After the waves settled there was not an undead left standing and we were no fewer in number. Most of the ship's cargo had long been ruined, but Rurik uncovered a ghastly secret as he had found a secret cargo space were 30 coffins lay. Each coffin was eerily empty as what is happening in the Ghost Coast is now unmistakably the work of a vile necromancer. We then departed the vessel and returned to Fairhaven, there we gave the brave soul Chad his overdue respects and, if only for a moment, the world seemed a better place for our noble efforts.

The Journey to the West, an account by Tallion

I arrived in town in the early afternoon and I made my way to Fairhaven's tavern, looking for any local prospectors. While I found no prospectors I did find a group of experienced adventurers setting up an expedition exploring the Western region. I promptly joined Rurik, Nongo, Loy and Godfrey's expedition and we headed out of town after a short stop at the general store. Before heading into the wilderness we visited the wise gnome ranger Malifer and learned much useful lore regarding the local regions. After bidding Malifer goodbye we traveled up the river until the evening where we then found a camp being scavenged by a pack of hyenas and a massive alpha. After dispensing the hyenas with great efficacy we discovered it was not the beasts that killed the camp's occupants but rather a raiding band of goblins. Deciding to seek justice on behalf of the fallen we followed their tracks after burying the men's bodies. We trekked partway into the night until Godfrey's stamina ran dry and we then stopped until morning. The next day we continued tracking the green thieves through the Plains of Estobar, wading through the neck high grass as we went. At around midday we spotted a distant trail of rising smoke and upon getting closer we located the source atop a cliff. Sneaking up on the encampment was easy after spotting their traps and the fight ended as quickly as it begun with not a single one of the murderers escaping. After the dust settled we looted their camp and after discovering the furs we confirmed that they were indeed the perpetrators. Nongo the noble volunteered to return the men's rings and a locket to their families. Afterwards we decided it was time to return to Fairhaven and prepare for our next incursion into this continent's vast wilderness.
