Races

These are the different races in the world of Faerun that are currently known.   ** NOTE: any race marked by an asterisk is a Monstrous Race. Monstrous races are frowned upon by the general populace and is likely to see adverse treatment in majority of cities, with the exception of those who have many travelers and adventurers, example: Waterdeep. *** NOTE: Lineages also can affect player abilities when tied to races.  
  • Aarakocra - They are common within mountain ranges as well as areas that are commonly believed to be connected to the Plane of Air. Some other humanoids believe they are unintelligent, but soon learn their mistake when underestimating the flight advantage.
  • Aasimar - Very rare in Faerun, and those that do exist are normally viewed as either gods or purely human, if they want to stay hidden.
  • Bugbear* - Common throughout the world, but not very welcome in vast majority of Faerun.
  • Centuar - Rare in Faerun, and tend to run in their own herds in the open fields they can find. Can also be rarely found traveling with Goliaths.
  • Changling - Very rare in Faerun, and those who have found them are unsure where they are from. However, they like to keep their homeland a secret, being from the Astral Sea.
  • Dragonborn - Common throughout the world of Faerun.
  • Dwarf - Common throughout, but Duergar are rare above the surface.
  • Elf - Common within their home territories and very prevalent, but rarely interact with other races unless for benefit of themselves.
  • Firbolg - Common in wooded areas and in small populace locations around woods.
  • Genasi - Very common throughout the realm, but commonly mistaken for just being a human.
  • Gith - Uncommon in Faerun, originally from the Astral Sea.
  • Gnome - Common throughout, but Deep Gnomes stick to caves/mountains areas, commonly with Dwarves.
  • Goblin* - Common throughout the world, but not very welcome in vast majority of Faerun. However due to their small stature, most of the general populace do not feel threatened by them.
  • Goliath - They roam throughout the world, know as those who protect the weak and love a good fight.
  • Half-Elf - One of the most common races across the entire realm. Frowned upon by Elves, but accepted by Humans.
  • Half-Orc - Not too common in the world, frowned upon in most locations due to their lineage, except those where adventurers are most common.
  • Halfling - One of the most common races throughout the realm. Widely welcomed and accepted.
  • Hobgoblin* - Common throughout the world, but not very welcome in vast majority of Faerun.
  • Human - One of the most common races, and many believe humans are elitist.
  • Kalashtar - Very rare in Faerun, and those who have found them are unsure where they are from. However some believe they are from the Astral Sea.
  • Kenku - They are common within deep forested areas. Some other humanoids believe they are unintelligent, but soon learn their mistake when interacting with them.
  • Kobold* - Common throughout the world, but not very welcome in vast majority of Faerun. However due to their small stature, most of the general populace do not feel threatened by them.
  • Leonin - Some believe they are just rumors, but those who have traveled well and far would know they are real. Leonin are common within Gwynneth of the Moonshae Isles, and known as fact in the Isles.
  • Lizardfolk* - Only truly seen in the swamplands of The High Moors or The Evermoors. Not very welcome in vast majority of Faerun.
  • Loxodon - Only seen in the fortress island called Omans Isle. They do not travel well and prefer to stay home.
  • Minotaur - Can only be originally found in Omans Isle, but they do travel for payment and fight until their original cause is won or death.
  • Orc* - Common throughout the world, but not very welcome in vast majority of Faerun.
  • Satyr - Some believe they are just rumors, but those who have traveled well and far would know they are real. Satyrs are truly at home at Alaron. Those who are been near the Isles have heard their songs.
  • Shifter - Very rare in the realm of Faerun, but are believed to live in tribes/packs in deep wooded areas.
  • Tabaxi - Common in wooded areas and in small populace locations around woods.
  • Tiefling - Common throughout, but most view with a skeptical eye due to their demonic descent.
  • Tortle - Common in coastal areas that do not have heavy populations. They tend to stick to small tribes.
  • Triton - Some believe they are just rumors, but those who have traveled well and far would know they are real. Tritons are from Moray, however they have outposts all around the Moonshae Isles, helping the other inhabitants.
  • Warforged - Rare in Faerun, but are becoming more common. Origins are currently unknown, but the first one was believed to have been created by an Archmage during the great wars, and then they continued to create more of their own.
  • Yuan-ti Pureblood* - Only truly seen in the swamplands of The High Moors or The Evermoors. Not very welcome in vast majority of Faerun.
