Jack Cooper is a young man from Phandalin who fell in with the Redbrands gang that briefly terrorised the region. This reign ended abruptly when a group of adventurers arrived in Phandalin and proceeded to unceremoniously kick the gang's collective arse.
Jack Cooper was one of the four thugs sent by the Redbrand leader to rob and chase off the adventurers. This task took a turn, however, when Cooper's three companions were killed in quick succession, and Jack himself was captured by the adventurers, locked in a shed overnight and interrogated before being handed over to the townmaster.
The event left Jack with both hatred and fear of adventurers in equal measure, and after serving his sentence in Phandalin, set out on the road, hoping never to meet the group again. Fate had other ideas, however, as he once again ran into the same adventurers who had beaten him the first time in the village of Longsaddle. Cooper's response to this unexpected development was to leave town immediately, travelling back the way he came.
A former criminal from Phandalin whose encounter with the Chaos Brigade left him with a distinct fear and hatred of adventurers.
