The tunnels are multistoried and spacious enough to tend to the magnificent fungal gardens that provide much of the food for the kingdom.

Emerald Pillar

The Emerald Pillar extends from cavern floor to ceiling. Carved from granite and encrusted with patterns of sparkling emeralds, the central pillar houses approximately 3,000 citizens. The Vertrius noble clan makes its home here.

Thornspite Citadel

Thornspite Citadel extends from the base of the Emerald Pillar, a squat octagonal building topped with grinning gargoyles and many small, round windows. Three concentric rings of walls surround the citadel, only about 12 feet high. While the wall's height may seem a small obstacle to invasion, growing between the walls is a deadly vine called scourgeweed. Scourgeweed is incredibly tough and able to regenerate within minutes. Its thorns can easily rend leather armor and slices flesh to the bone. When pricked, the thorns release an acidic sap that can dissolve metal, wood or stone in seconds.   At any given time, up to 1,200 people either live or work within the citadel's walls. The Vertrius noble clan makes its home within this citadel. Above the citadel, the pillar is adorned with arabesque patterns of emeralds.
