Personal history

Marlo grew up in Rodal, a village on the frontier, with his family. The death of their mother, Mila, has given Marlo and his sister empathy for loss. They spent much of their time growing up helping at the family clinic, which was run by their father Threndor, an aeon priest, who used his understanding of Numenera to heal and aid the community.   As time went on both developed other interests to occupy their time. Valeyn studied their father's scriptures, while Marlo took to learning how to navigate the dangers of ruins and explore.   Marlo's mechanical aspect made others wary to look upon him, so he learnt to put others at ease, and to conceal his 'endowments'. His interest in ruins and Numenera was looked down on, until he uncovered an artifact capable of repelling the iron wind (and even some of the machine monstrosities that roam the Beyond), creating a pocket of further safety for the village. Further discoveries would turn the tide of plague. He became respected by his neighbours.   Valeyn left for the Steadfast to study to become an aeon priest of Order of Truth, while Marlo and his father began to take on students to help run the clinic.   Between his father's death and the lack of unexplored ruins left near his childhood home, Marlo left for the Steadfast to bring word of the former to his sister, and to seek new ruins.   Ultimately, he found Valeyn in Charmonde.
