Richter's Reed

Richter's Reed is a cattail-like plant native to the freshwater habitats of Alterra, commonly found along the banks of rivers, creeks, and lakes. The plant thrives exclusively in freshwater environments, where it forms dense clusters that can dominate the shoreline. The reed is easily identified by its tall, slender stalks and cylindrical seed heads, which resemble those of common cattails. One of the most notable features of Richter's Reed is its magical property: the ability to purify water. The plant absorbs impurities and toxins from the surrounding water, releasing clean, drinkable water in return.

This natural purification process makes Richter's Reed an essential component of the ecosystems it inhabits, contributing to the overall health of the water sources it surrounds. The reeds not only support the local wildlife by providing clean water but are also valued by settlers and travelers who rely on them for safe drinking water.
