Shorelight Tree

The Shorelight Tree is a remarkable species of palm tree discovered along the coastal regions of Alterra. Unlike typical palms, the Shore Tree possesses bioluminescence. At night, its fronds emit a soft, blue-green glow, illuminating the shoreline with an ethereal light. This natural luminescence is a result of a symbiotic relationship with a type of bioluminescent algae that thrives within the tree's tissues. Forthis reason, travellers have called them "Lighthouse Trees".

Coastal communities use the tree's sturdy leaves for thatching roofs and crafting lightweight, waterproof baskets. The Shore Tree's ability to light up the night not only aids navigation along the coast but also provides homes for oceanic species like gulls.
