The Kingdom of Doristan

"Doristan was beautiful once. Lush palms and date trees. Sparkling rivers. Ivory palaces and towers tipped with the fire of the sun. Doristan didn't deserve the curse put upon it. Didn't deserve this devastation."
  • Leithan recounting the splendor of the Doristanian Kingdom.
  • The extension of the Sidion wasteland wasn’t always an extension of desert. The Wondrous city state of Doristan, ages ago, was the premier magical resource of Moradin. Multiple planes of existence were folded over one another into one place. Doristan was glorious and the envy of every city in the Material Plane. On the day of the Great Cataclysm the land was permanently scarred with arcane energy. Destroying the arcane fabric of Doristan and plummeting the city-state into a Dark Age it has never recovered from. Since then, the city-state is primarily borderless and unrecognized by large political powers. Doristanians are ruled by a central bloodline of nobles. The King of Doristan maintains rule through unyielding martial dominion of his people. The Royal Family holds the most influence of this devastated kingdom but the now desert dwelling people have reformed themselves into various clan groups that pay fealty to the Doristanian King and the Royal Family.   Places of Note:
    • Doristan - Capital
    • Tzenur Market – Trading Town
    • Ruins of Ras Aradom – Subterranean Complex
      Regional Benefits
    • Magical Resistance (includes magical things like potions and poisons)   Anti-Magic field (20% spell failure, 10ft radius)

    Government

The government in Doristan is more like a collectivist Feudal system based around tribal cultures.

    Industry & Trade

Doristan is known primarily for it's excellent quality of mercenary forces that it exports.

    Assets

The Doristanian Desert is home to many magical ruins and treasure hunters frequent it despite the dangers of the desert. Sidion on the other hand, avoids the Doristanian ‘Territory’ because of its close proximity to the Savage Lands and would rather not deal with any tribal disputes that might arise. Officially, the desert is a buffer zone for anything that leaves the Savage Lands. Due to the nature of the catastrophe that befell Doristan, all who reside there naturally are resistant to arcane energies innately and exude an aura of mana-death. Affecting magical artefacts, items, and other arcane touched things. When in the presence of magic, the Doristanian eyes glow iridescently.

    Architecture

Many of the Doristani buildings are influenced by ancient Iranian and Persian styles and traditional elements include domes, minarets, columns and piers, arches and use of tiles to add color. The ancient Doristanians built their buildings out of stone, the most durable of all building materials. Although forces of nature, and more mortal means have taken their toll, the remains of Doristan's monumental architectural achievements are visible across the land, a tribute to the greatness of this civilization. These building projects took a high degree of architectural and engineering skill, and the organization of a large workforce consisting of highly trained craftsmen and laborers.

    Geography

Doristan is comprised of several deserts dotted with oasis and crossed by a single river.
