History

The Seaborne were shaped by Golorrath, God of the Abyss, as counterparts to their surface God Kin: the dwarves. Since Golorrath’s domain extends to any abyss, the Seaborne thrive in the deepest oceans, embodying the strength and adaptability of marine life. Their forms reflect the creatures of the sea, with some resembling octopi—bearing tentacled heads and appendages—while others have the jagged teeth and powerful tails of sharks. These large humanoid beings keep to their secretive underwater cities, isolated from the world above.

Devout followers of the God of the Depths, the Seaborne are deeply spiritual and maintain their separation from most surface conflicts. Though they remained mostly neutral during the Heavenly Clash, they occasionally sank ships bearing the markings of Thalos, God of the Sea.

The Seaborne were not just born from divine creation however. On the Everspray Islands, a healthy following of Golorrath still exists, and some devout followers know of a ritual to transform themselves into Seaborne, viewing this transformation as the ultimate act of devotion. By becoming Seaborne, they believe they join their true Kin in the ocean’s depths. After the Sundering, this ritual has grown in popularity, as many seek to embrace their god’s will and escape the uncertainties of the surface world.

Now

The Seaborne are only seen near the Everspray Islands, but their sightings are becoming increasingly common. More and more of the free folk go through "The Descent" as well, turning themselves into Seaborne. They say the sea now stirs in unusual ways, and eyes are ever drawn to something shifting unseen, just under the surface in depths unkown. A silent heartbeat, a glimmer that calls a sailors attention and he becomes a changed man, always looking out to sea and whispering to himself. Eventually, he will go through the descent, and join his true Kin.
