Story of Yami
A World Unknown
Sitting in a void there was a young wolf who was walking around in a world of darkness. As he was walking he started to feel sad and lonely and said to himself looking down “what if there is something else out there". Then when he looked up to start walking he saw something he had never seen before as he never really seen anything before, another wolf. He froze to look at it then he thought to himself, What is this feeling, He wanted to see what it was but was too scared to approach it. Then just as he blinked it was gone and he felt safe but curious as to what it was. The only thing he could think about after that was if it would come back and what he would do if it did. He wanted to ask it so many things but could not keep his head together. So he just tried to think about other things and then he had a revelation. That if he blinked did things go dark. All he ever knew was darkness but for the thing to be seen you need light. How he knew this he didn't know but he knew for a fact that you need light to see something. Then he thought about blinking again and the fact that if you blink things go away. So after all that thinking that he never really had to do before he was tired and fell asleep.
When he woke up he opened his eyes to a blinding light and shouted in pain. Little by little he opened his eyes and saw the most amazing things ever. But soon he realized something was off. It was the fact that he knew what these things were and the basic things about them. The more knowledge that poured into his head he became bored with them after a while and said the best thing he thought he could say at the time, ”well at least it's better than that dark place". After being there a long time he finally remembered something. It was that he was right about the blinking. After thinking about it for a while he felt the same way he felt in the dark place. Being bored something came to his mind. It was more knowledge. This time it was not much but it was about eating . He did not feel hungry so he forgot about it and moved on. Then he looked down and saw something move. It did not look like him but he was not bored anymore and started to mess with it as he could not think of anything else to do at the time. Soon he was bored again but he felt that something was off again. He did not know what the small creature was. The only thing he knew about it was that it could move on its own like he could. So he got bored again and moved on with life and saw many new things but new knowledge did not come. Then the most random thing happened to him as he saw the thing from the dark place pop up again when he looked ahead on top of a small hill. He froze again but this time he looked and yelled to the white wolf “Who are you lady" as she ran away. He did not want to lose this opportunity to talk with someone and ran after her. As he ran after her he said to himself “what in the world is a lady though”. This did not stop him from running after her .
They ran into a dense forest and soon after in the blink of an eye he was ganged up on by a pack of wolves .Being so small he could not do anything but be in fear as his life was basically over. With so much fear and shock of how fast it happened he passed out. It was also the fact that he had never seen more than one other wolf before. While he was falling to the ground he heard yelling at the white wolf but he could not make out what they were saying as his hearing and other senses seemed to fade away. The one thing he knew was that he could understand what they were saying. Because the first word he heard before passing out was “WHY”. When he woke up and came to his senses, he was instantly on his feet and questioned why he was alive and not dead. He seen that he was in some sort of cave. It had so many plants and light coming in from holes in the wall, He looked down at his feet and seen that he was standing on a bed of plants. After looking around a bit he heard something coming so he went back to the plants he was on and acted like he was asleep. When another wolf came into the cave, in a lighthearted but deep tone of voice he started to laugh and said ” young one, there is no need to be scared because you are a young wolf and we would like if you joined our pack” The young wolf wondered why they attacked him though. Then more knowledge came to him and it seemed to be really important . It was about territory and hunting grounds. When he opened his eyes he saw a big grey wolf looking at him. The big wolf asked him his name and then The young wolf started to think and realized he did not have a name and told the wolf this. When the big wolf looked at him more closely and said “Yami”.
The young wolf looked confused as to what this meant and asked the big wolf ”What the heck does Yami mean?". And the big wolf replied with “That is your new name Yami”. The young wolf Accepted the name but wanted to know what it meant not what it was. So Yami asked again “what does it mean?” This is when the big wolf realized what he was asking and said “it means darkness". Then Yami asked another question. "Why would you name me that?” and the big wolf said “Because your fur is black and you looked like you needed a name that fit”.
Yami was happy he got a name but now he wanted to find the white wolf as he wanted to talk to her and find out why she was in the dark place. This got him wondering what the dark place is. To start it off he gave it a name, The Void. Now that he gave it a name he wanted to find out where it is but that would have to wait. After thinking on it he decided to ask the big wolf what his name was and where the white wolf is. The big wolf said “My name is Rock and the white wolf is somewhere you don't need to worry about”. This made Yami angry at Rock for not telling him where she was. So the last thing he asked was why they yelled at the white wolf. Rock said”well she was supposed to bring back some dogs but she brought you back instead”. ”So you could either join our pack or we put you into a sleep which you don't wake up from”. This scared Yami and he agreed to join the pack only so he could live. Rock Gave Yami some clothes and led Yami out of the cave and into the open and he saw more wolves than ever but he did not the white wolf. He asked Rock where she was and Rock responded with a quick “Don't worry about her kid but you will see her soon'. Yami did not want to wait but he knew he would have to.
After a bit more walking he started to see a small building. They walked around to the back of the building to a big open area closed off by stone walls and the ground was just dirt. There were a bunch of other wolves about the same size as he was. they all had armor on. This Made him think. Then all of a sudden the knowledge flow came back and this time it told him about war and how the two sides oppose each other. This also told him about training. Rock told him that he had to train here like all the other young wolves. Yami liked this idea and Rock led him to a strange looking large stone. It had a symbol and that formed a circle with one in the middle. Yami asked Rock”what is this weird looking thing”. In response Rock said “this rock reveals your ability when you touch it.There is eight and these are
water, fire, earth, winds...................... elements and Dark, light, Reality, and illusion. “That's eight but what is the one in the middle for?” Yami asked. “That one is if you have an unknown ability or you can control them all. Only one person was ever able to control them all." He was also the one to help us live the way we do now, With a little help of course”. said Rock. Yami asked how It worked and Rock grabbed his paw and put it on top of the rock .When he did this the stone lit three of the symbols.This was very Rare and only a few wolfs ever got two so three was a surprise to them. Yami asked what he got and Rock said to Yami “you got Dark,Reality and Illusion”. Yami didn't know if this was bad or good and Just went with it. This also made Yami think about how to use powers or magic but he could not grasp on to it so he asked Rock what it was about and Rock said ”I don't know how it came to be but i just know that we can use magic”. This also made Yami question why the knowledge flow did not tell him and why it told him things in the first place. He just blew it off and forgot about it thinking it was normal but he really wanted to find out how to use his abilities. So he asked Rock and Rock said ”why are you asking me,you should be asking the wolf over there”
So Yami went over and asked her how to use his abilities and she told him to “concentrate and look deep into your soul and that's where you will find your powers”. Yami tried to concentrate and he closed his eyes. He felt nothing so he told the wolf that nothing was happening but there was no response. He opened his eyes to an empty room with no trace of anybody. Then the world started to bend out of shape and warp. Then everything started to go black and sooner than Yami thought, He was back in the Void. Yami screamed in anger and yelled why am I back here and when he blinked he was back in the room. Everyone looked at him in fear and some of the other young wolves started to scream. They all seemed hurt and when he looked at Rock, he looked angry. So Yami ran out the door to go back to the cave but as soon as he went out the door he was in the cave. He froze and turned around to see that he was nowhere near the building he was just in. Yami was confused and the fact that they screamed and the looks of fear made him sad. He started thinking about what would cause such a reaction but With so much on his mind and so many emotions, he fell asleep on the grass bed he woke up in. He had a dream where it was dark but then he saw a light. When the light became brighter he saw two wolves. One of them was female and the other was male. He walked up to them with blurry vision and they hugged him. Yami felt happy and as if nothing could take it away. Then all of a sudden he was in a different place. He heard screaming and he seen that the male and female that made him feel happy were being taken away by tall creatures that stood on six feet with four arms and were very big. He tried to save them but they kicked him and everything went dark. When he woke from his sleep he was in a small room with a chain around his neck.He was also crying from the dream but he became mad seeing that they put him into a hole. He was chained at the wrists. After a while of being in the hole a head peaked over and asked him if he was ok. It was the white wolf he wanted to see. The first thing he asked her was why she was in the Void and why she was by the hole. ”Because i was worried about you” she said.
“But we barely know each other,” Yami said in response. So the white wolf asked what his name was and he said Yami and when he asked her, she said her name was Yuki. Yami said he liked her name “now we know each other” Yuki said. “Yea well is there any way you can help me out of here?” Yami asked. Yea but it will take awhile Yuki said. Yami did not want to wait but he held himself together. During the night she came back and threw a rope down into the hole along with a key. He unlocked the chains and grabbed onto the rope. After a bit of pulling Yuki got him out of the hole. Yami thanked Yuki. “I need you to help me escape from this village,” Yuki said suddenly. Yami agreed to help and they ran into the forest. As they were running the wolf guards started to pursue them and they were fast. Yami asked Yuki to hold his hand and he closed his eyes. He concentrated and thought about he place where he first came to this world and when he opened his eyes he was running in that area and the wolves were no longer after them. This made Yami happy and Yuki was happy that she was no longer in the wolf village. They both lay on the soft grass and started to rest as they were free of them. Soon they were both asleep. When Yami woke up it was day again and he stood to stretch. He looked down to see that Yuki was still asleep.
Yami did not want to wake her so he walked into a nearby cave to see what it was about and also because he was bored. When he walked in he saw something shine at the back of the cave and went to go see what it was. When he got to the end he saw a rock with a sword in it. When he went up to the rock he saw words on the stone. Yami reading aloud said”to the young wolf who came from a place of darkness, this sword will help you in this world you have arrived in. Yami drew the sword, it was a wide curved blade with a notch at the hilt. it also came with a sheath. Yami ran out the cave to tell Yuki about it but when he came out Yuki was pinned down by a giant bear. Yami overestimating the power of the blade ran up to the bear and hit it with all his strength. This did nothing to the bear. The bear hit Yami with his other paw and sent Yami into a tree with a large gash on his chest. Yuki struggled to escape and this made Yami angry when he saw her this way. With anger at the bear being the only thing on his mind the pain from the bear hitting him no longer fazed him. Yami ran up to the bear and swung the blade at the bear's side and with a burst of power he cut the bear in half. Yuki was free and this calmed Yami but with how much power he used and a big loss of blood he passed out.
When Yami opened his eyes with blurred vision he saw a blue light and Yuki bent over him crying. Yami fell out of consciousness again and when he opened his eyes again he saw a ceiling and when he looked around he saw that he was in a house. He looked at his chest to see what happened to the gash only to see bandages over his chest. When he looked over to the bed next to him he saw Yuki sleeping. Seeing her safe made Yami happy and he fell back to sleep. When he woke up again he saw a feline with orange and black fur. Yami asked him who he was and then he looked over at him. “I am Tiger and who are you supposed to be" Tiger said. "I am Yami and the girl sleeping is Yuki” said Yami. Yami wondered where he was asked Tiger and Tiger told him that he was on top of the mountain where he was sleeping at the bottom. Yami had no idea that the building was up here. So he walked outside only to start falling down the mountain side. Screaming Yami realized he was back in the building and all the noise woke up Yuki. Impressed by what Yami did Tiger asked Yami what abilities he had. Yami told him the three he had and Tiger gave back the Blade that Yami had and asked him to cut down a tree in one swing at the bottom of the mountain. Yami thought this was impossible but thought he would give it a go. Tiger asked Yami and Yuki to grab his hands or he could go down by himself and he would bring Yuki.
Yami wanted to go by himself to see if he could work on his abilities. He closed his eyes and thought about the bottom of the mountain. When he opened his eyes he was there and went to the first tree he saw. It was small but still a tree. Yami swung at it and it was in two pieces. Tiger all of a sudden hit Yami atop the head. Yami asked why he hit him. "Because you went up to the first but smallest tree you could find." Tiger said. "You need a bigger one so i picked one out for you". They walked up to a huge tree. It was half the size of the mountain and could serve as a home for many people. it was also the same one the bear flung him into. Yami looked at Tiger as if he was stupid. Tiger looked back at Yami telling him to cut the tree. Yami knew it was impossible so he gathered all his strength and swung to show Tiger he could not do it. He barely left a mark on the tree and he looked at Tiger. Tiger told him he must be really weak if he could not do it and that he could do it when he was younger than him. This made Yami angry at Tiger and when he swung at the tree again without looking. The tree shook but nothing happened. Yami looked at Tiger and Yuki and Yuki had a shocked look on her face. Yami asked her why she was looking like that and Tiger ran towards the tree.When Yami turned around he saw that the tree was falling. Yami was shocked but questioned why Tiger ran towards the falling tree.When tiger got under the tree he caught it and held it sideways.This made Yami think that tiger was not stupid but really strong with knowledge of the things he questioned. Then Tiger did something Yami thought was even more impossible than catching the tree. Tiger threw the gigantic tree into the air and with seemingly one swing the tree turned into fire wood. It was enough to supply a village for a long time. When Yami went up to Tiger. He asked him why he cut the wood like that. ”So i could see how advanced your power and so i could sell the wood,” Tiger said. Yami got angry asking why Tiger could not do it himself. Tiger explained that he really just wanted to see his power but thought about selling the wood when the tree actually fell. Yami asked why he wanted to sell the wood. Tiger told him that every 30-31 days a bird would come to peoples door asking for a lot of money and if you did not give it to him within the next 5 days that you would lose the place you lived in.This angered Yami to why you had to give someone else something that you got on your own.That is when the knowledge flow came back and told him about trading and how if you wanted to stay in an home you had to trade money for the house every few days. Yami was not angry anymore but wanted to ask Tiger if he knew anything about the Void.
Tiger told him about all the good food he could get and started to talk about how long it's been since he had something good. Yami liked the idea and forgot about the Void. Tiger then summoned a flat rock that floated above the ground and asked Yuki to get on and flew into the air before Yami could get on. Yami asked him why he flew up without him. “Because you need to learn how to use your powers Yami ''Tiger said. Yuki looked down at Yami and told him he could do it. This gave Yami a confidence boost and determination for reasons he did not understand yet. With the fire wood behind him Tiger and Yuki flew off into the distance. Yami did not know how to do what Tiger did so he thought about how he could do it. He thought about the stone Tiger summoned and tried to do the same. Tiger looked as he did it without even trying. Yami concentrated and imagined to rock in front of him but nothing happened.He tried again but this time he imagined the small leaf bed he woke up in when he was in the wolf Village. This time it popped up in front of him but it was not floating. Yami sat on top of the leaf bed and thought about it floating and it flew up. Yami got excited but then the leaf bed fell and Yami felt angry. With anger he tried again but when the bed of leaves was summoned it was much bigger and if floated above the ground. Yami got on top and thought about it floating and flew high into the air. This scared Yami but he did not fall, instead he flew higher. He tried to fly forward but it did not move so he leaned in the direction he wanted to go like he saw Tiger do when he left. As Yami expected he flew forward but not at any fast speed. He concentrated more and went in the direction Tiger went in then he saw a small place in the distance. It was an island but it was not on the ground. Yami saw this place and went to it and landed. He got off the leaf bed and started to walk around. He was amazed by the many buildings he saw lined up next to each other. In the distance he saw Tiger and Yuki with the wood. It looked like he was giving it to someone but the person gave Tiger small things in return.
The knowledge flow only told him about trade but Yami thought that you got something that was equal to what you traded. He ran up to them yelling at the rabbit in the booth as to why he gave Tiger something so small for the wood. Tiger had to explain to Yami how much the little things could get them up there and told Yami and Yuki to follow him. They walked into a small building and when they did Yami and Yuki were both amazed at the things they could smell. Yami asked Tiger what the smell was. “It is food, what else did you think it was?'' Tiger said. Yami told Tiger that he has not eaten since he got to the world. Tiger walked up to the counter and ordered three legs of meat. Yami did not know what this was but when they Called Tiger he went up to the counter and gave the bird some of the small things he got from the rabbit. When Tiger came to the table Yami could not wait to eat and was all of a sudden hungry. As soon as Tiger sat down the plate Yami started to devour the leg. Yami thought it was the best thing on the planet being the only thing he ever eaten as he did not need to eat in the Void. Tiger and Yuki looked at him like he was a beast and started to laugh. Yami did not care but as he came to a finish he saw something. It was the wolves from the wolf village He could tell from the armor they wore. He asked Tiger and Yami to grab his hands. He closed his eye and thought of the one place he did not want to go to but thought was a good hiding place at the time. As fast as anyone could think about it they were in the Void. Yami for once felt happy in the void but when he looked for Tiger and Yuki they were not there. He Thought about the food place again but he got another flow of knowledge about how to use his power and When he left he was back in the building but everyone was looking at him in fear. Yami asked what was wrong. Tiger seen that Yami did not know what was happening so he gave him a thing called a mirror and Yami saw that his eyes were white. Tiger told Yami that his eyes were supposed to be a fiery gold color. Yami asked why everyone looked at him the way they did and why they all looked hurt. Tiger asked Yami and Yuki to grab his hand but before Yami could grab his hand someone got up and swung a sword at Yami. Tiger blocked this attack and grabbed Yami’s hand.
They teleported back to his house and went into another room. Yami asked Yuki what was happening. You have the eyes of the great wolves that tried to take over the world a few years ago. It scared everyone and no one wants to remember that time. Also when your eyes turned white you released a great amount of power that hurt everyone around you. This made Yami scared of himself but he knew how to use his power now so he knew he was not going to hurt any one any more.
Tiger came back into the room with a small book. On the cover it read:Details of the old war and false guardians. Yami asked Tiger what a Guardian was and Tiger looked at Yami like he was the dumbest person alive. Yami asked why he was looking like that. You are a Guardian but you barely know what you are. How dumb of a child can you be to scare everyone and not see what is happening. Tiger said in an angry tone. Yami looked in a mirror in the house and saw that his eyes were still white. Yami blinked and they were no longer white. Tiger handed the book and told him that if he wanted to learn more about himself he would have to read the book. He also said it was written and copied by the last good guardian of the world. Yami asked Tiger where he was But Tiger said that the Guardian asked him not to tell anyone as it would only bring chaos. Tiger told Yami that he could make an exception as Yami was a guardian. Tiger gave Yami a map of the lands with the mountain in the middle. There was a cave on the edge with words across it saying cave of the last real guardian. Yami started to head out of the door when Yuki called his name. She was asking to come with him as she wanted to see what a real guardian was like. Yami agreed to let her come.
Yami grabbed her hand and jumped out the front door and summoned the bed of leaves. As fast as he could, he flew towards the cave on the map. Soon they got there and saw a giant cave, they slowly flew in. fire started to light the cave as they flew and at the end of the cave they saw someone sitting down. Yami flew to the person and landed. Yami and Yuki got off the leaf bed and Yuki asked if he was an actual guardian. The person opened their eyes and you saw the eyes of the guardian. The person asked Yuki and Yami why they came and how they knew who he was.Yami told him of Tiger and the guardian got mad asking why the fool would tell them his location. Yami went to the void and came back as fast as he could and his eyes were white. The guardian told Yami that he was not supposed to be in that world. The guardian grabbed the two and teleported to the house they came from.He sat them down and asked Tiger why he sent children to him. Tiger said he wanted to help Yami find out who he was and that he thought the best thing for a guardian was to talk to a guardian.
Yami felt as if he was sick and went to go get into bed as he also felt tired and fell asleep. When he woke up he saw that Yuki was sleeping next to him. He looked over Yuki to see that the guardian was in the other bed. Yami woke up in the middle of the night so he went back to sleep.
Yami woke up to see everyone in the room at a table. Yami got up and went over to them and asked them what they were doing. Tiger told Yami that the last guardians name was Roha and that he would have to train with him so he could understand how to use his powers. Yami told Tiger that he already knew how to use his powers and did not need help from the guardian. Tiger told Yami that he was not the only one of his kind, Yami just looked at Tiger like he was the stupidest person he has ever met.Tiger had to rephrase what he said and told Yami that there were more besides Roha and him. Yami did not feel like processing this information as he just woke up.Yami looked at Yuki only to see that her eyes were white.Yami was surprised but did not show it but it woke him up all the way to the point where he was able to think and the first thing he questioned was why she could not leave the camp herself.
Yami asked Yuki this and she told him that Tiger asked her to get you when he sensed your presence at the base of the mountain. Yami told her that this did not answer his question. Yuki told him that she got caught on the way down and was also forced to join the village and seen it as a way to get you. Yami thought this made sense and accepted it. Yami wanted to make friends so he accepted Roha only to see other wolves like him like he seen in the camp but guardians. Yami, Yuki, and Roha were in the cave they first met. Roha opened a portal that led to what looked like a little village. They all went through and to the village. Yami looked around to see where he was at and when he looked up he seen glass with water above it. Yami asked why it was under water and told Yami that the great Guardian Umbra sunk it to protect the sanctuary from the outside world. Then yami asked what a great guardian was, Roha told him that there were only two left and that they don't come to the place anymore and that they don't care anymore. Roha looked sad as he said this.
Roha told Yami that he looks just like Umbra but Yami was all black.Yami kind of liked the idea that he looked like a great guardian. Yami said he wanted to meet Umbra but Roha insisted that he did not want to meet him. Yami really wanted to meet the great guardian. Roha sighed and told him that there was a house at the edge of the small village.Yami asked Yuki to come with him as he did not want to go alone but not with Roha. Yuki agreed to come along with Yami. When they got there Yami opened a door to see a stand with a solider wolf on it. He had a katana and looked identical to Yami's. Yami stood by the statue and copied the pose it was in. He looked at Yuki to see that she was not looking at him but at the wall.
He went over to her to see that her hand was on a lever. She pulled it down and the wall opened up. They walked in to see a circle with weird symbols on it. It started to glow and glow more then they seen a black figure.It was Daku, he had black fur with white fur on his stomach that went up the front of his neck. Yami did not believe it was Daku but he looked just like the statue.Yami accepted this and asked him why the guardians went and tried to take over the planet. Umbra looked as if he was angry, This scared Yami but Yuki looked perfectly fine. Umbra did not know. Daku took Yami’s sword and slid a finger over the edge of the blade.
This did not cut Daku’s finger but it changed the way the sword looked.Yami got the sword back and on the side it said diamond edged. Umbra looked at Yuki and he gave her a pocket dimension bag. Yuki was surprised by this and Roha yelled saying “That never happens!”. Yami and Yuki looked back at Roha surprised to see that he followed them in the house. Yami got mad at why Roha scared them like that. When they looked back at Daku he was no longer there. They walked out of the house. Yami felt dizzy and fell over and passed out.
He was back in the void but he heard white noise and he then saw a light. Yami just looked at it for a while. He was in a tired state and felt exhausted. Soon came a figure from the light and then he saw a bunch of people starting to walk out. He blinked and then he was on a sunny plain with green grass and hills. There was even a mountain that looked like it touched the sky. Then something caught Yami's attention and he no longer felt tired. It was the people sitting at a table and eating. They looked at him and called him over. As he was heading over to the table he seen Umbra among them. He walked up to Umbra and asked him what was happening. Umbra told yami that everyone at the table was a great guardian. Umbra naming them there was Jaden the black cat, dulcinea the black cat, lucky the calico cat, Bonnie the pink bunny, Sugar and Honey the otters, hydra the otter, Sol the lion, luna the wolf, Grim the wolf,
I wrote this story in middle school. Its a cringe Furry story. If you just so happen to come across this just point out things i could have done better. Im thinking about making a second part but dont have the motivation.
