Falgjoren Lake
Although Falgjoren Lake is essential to the city of Nard, it poses a danger to anyone unaware of its unique properties. The same cooling properties of its water that make it indispensable to the metalworking industry and provide its prized anti-febrile medicinal properties also increase the danger of hypothermia for anyone who attempts to bathe or swim in its waters.
Geography
Coming from far below the Valta Mountains, the water first appears as hot springs in a massive cavern just north of Priyanka, home of the Nard. From there, it flows through an underground channel before emerging into a "bottomless" lake with a surface area of only a few thousand square meters. Due to the small amount of surface area and a large rock overhang that partially covers the lake, only limited amounts of windborne contaminants such as sand and dust fall on the water. The large amount of water flowing from its source is constantly renewing the lake with fresh water as well, resulting in the world's cleanest naturally occurring water supply.
Localized Phenomena
Due to supposedly magical properties that are not fully understood, the water of Lake Falgjoren is particularly effective at quenching metals. This useful ability has enabled the Nard to become masters of filigree and other particularly fine metalworking. Although most smiths in the area produce architectural components and tools, there are some who specialize in making weapons and armor that are both incredibly strong and unimaginably light. The real pride of the Nard artisans, however, is the beautiful jewelry that is characteristic of the region.
Many locals say that the cooling properties are because the water has learned how to rid itself of the heat from the molten core of Fortis, so it has a special knowledge of how to dissipate heat. This may hold some grain of truth, since Falgjoren's water is also particularly effective at cooling burns, a property which often comes in useful in a city of metalworkers.
Natural Resources
It is unknown what the capacity of the lake is since the bottom of the lake has never been reached. What is certain is that a tremendous amount of water flows into the lake from the underground channel, yet the level of the lake is constant regardless of meteorological conditions or how much water is drawn off by the nearby city of Nard.
History
No item dropped into the middle of the lake has ever been retrieved, giving rise to numerous local legends regarding events that have occurred along its shore as well as the eventual fate of the lake water.
