Pangfen Traders' Guild

There are many guilds on Fortis, but the traders of the Pangfen Desert are the most cohesive and organized of them all. The guild has never lost a caravan and they can always locate their members, dead or alive. The Pangfen Traders' Guild maintains a band of mages and Valtaran mercenaries that specialize in recovery work and they track down shipments, regardless of the cost in lives or money. When a disaster occurs, a guild delivery may come late or damaged, but it will always arrive.
Membership in the guild comes at a steep price, both in privacy and coin, and only those born to the tribes of Pangfen are permitted to join. However, the advantages of membership are tremendous, as the reputation of the guild is excellent and clients will pay a premium for shipping cargo through a reliable carrier that is guaranteed not to disappear with their goods. There is also the looming threat that a professional group of warriors and mages will come to a guild member's rescue if trouble finds them on the road, which causes most trouble to find easier targets that pose less of a danger.
Guild members communicate freely amongst themselves through the use of talking orbs. Although they are physical objects, one of their magical properties is that they can change size, ranging in diameter from the height of a limmel to being too small to see. It is said that the traders keep them hidden in a curve of their ear so they can listen broadcasts from the guild even as they go about their daily work. These magical items are strongly tied to their owner and cannot be separated from them under any circumstances, since they simply reduce in size and return to their owner.
