Island Arrival
The story of how the people of Foundria had arrived on the island has been passed down for centuries, though almost no one on the island seems to believe in the story anymore. Most people maintain that humans had always lived on the island rather than arriving from another place.
The story states that the original people arrived from the water, riding on a contraption that did not sink dispite the immense weight of the entire population. Most people discount this story as a children's tale citing the impossibility of the contraption and the apparent lack of land past the endless seas.
The few that believe in the story disagree on what the contraption was. Some believe is was something which allowed people to ride on fish, or that allowed people to swim like fish. Others believe that is was a giant, man-made bird, or a large metal contraption. Some even believe that it was a mystical contraption concieved of by the eternals. Others believe that it was made of wood, which they believe would float if placed in water - though no one has ever attempted to prove this as wood is far too finite and expensive for most to gain access to.
There was an incident nearly a century ago where someone who worked cutting trees attempted to prove that wood would float by throwing pieces into the ocean. When the man was found out on his way to the ocean he was promptly attacked by several bystanders who were angry at his desire to waste wood. Since this event, even those who are most fervent about wood's ability to float do not dare attempt to prove it for fear of retaliation from others who see them.
